I am looking to get 11 tickets for next April (easter Week) out of Newark, NJ. Today the flights home jsut opened up. Right now, the non-stop flights with Continental are almost $600 - not happening.

Delta has some flights, but are non-stop. Going down to FL there is a 90 nminuted layover in Atlanta and 51 minutes in Atlanta coming home. Round trip is $317 per person. I am not thrilled of it taking 5 1/2 hours to get to Orlando, but is better than spending $600 a ticket for non-stop.

My question is:
Should I book the Delta fares now?
Should I wait and see if Continental comes down?
Do I want it out for Jet Blue or Spirit?

I am so confused. All you read is that prices aren't going down. I am even more nervous because it is a holiday week.

It all depends on what you can pay and if you are willing to gamble on prices not going up too much. When I was trying to get tickets for our past trip, I had a price I was looking for. I wanted non stop flights. I would look everyday at the airlines to see if things changed. The flights were about 700 per person, more than I wanted to pay. I knew I could get connecting flights for the price I was willing to pay and so I kept looking. One day Delta had an unannounced sale. The tickets for the non stop flights went down to 270 per person. I snapped them up. 2 days later they were back up to the 700. So part of it depends on how often you want to check the prices. I was doing it daily, sometimes more than once a day. It saved me a bundle, while in the back of my head I always knew that I could get a connecting flight if that was what was needed.

We booked Continental outof EWR for this Dec. I bought my tix in Feb for 175 pp RT including taxes.. I would say keep watching them for a little while. I watched them come down for about a month before I bought. Once they settled at 175 for 3 days straight I figured it was time ot take the plunge before they headed north again.

I am more than willing to check multiple times a day.

When I wnet back on Delta's website today, the ticjets that were $317 are now over $500.
