Looking at getting to Disney a day early. Has anyone ever done this??

We are renting a car, would like to rent it just to get down to WDW and back, so we would rent it for 2 days going down and 2 days going back. We don't need the car once we get to disney....we never do.

Has anyone ever done this? How much would a taxi cost to get us from the car rental to WDW? Looking at National Car Rental

Note that there are a couple of National offices at WDW so the technical "cab fare cost to WDW" could be as little as none. If you can drop off at the car center, they have free transportation within the resort. If you can drop off at the Swan, you can either walk or take Disney transportation within the resort.

I think I answered my own question. To rent a car for two days to drive there and two days to drive back cost more then 300 bucks :earseek:

It is only costing about 230 for a week and two extra days if we leave on the 30th......

why does it cost more to rent one way then for a whole week??? :confused3

Where would you be driving from?

If from outside of Florida, more than likely the car rental company has the pricing because then the agency in Florida would have to contend with what to do with a car registered in another state. They would probably either (a) have to have it shipped back to an agency in the car's home state, (b) go through some sort of title transfer from the home state to Florida, or (c) wait and see if someone will rent a car to drive back toward the home state. Yeah, it may be you, but even so that car is taking up space in the agency's lot, and there's the chance it could be rented to someone else in the meantime. If the other person still has the car when you go to pick up your rental to drive home, you would end up with a different car to drive home and the agency back home would have a car registered out of state to deal with.

Years ago I used to travel a lot on business and rented cars frequently, and this is how I understood that one-way rentals usually worked.

I believe the drop-off is at the Dolphin not the Swan :car: (for alamo and national)

It might be cheaper to keep the car for the entire trip; one-ways are normally more expensive because they include a hefty drop-off charge.

Read the fine print if you intend to take the car out of the state you rented it in, even if you return it to the same location. Some agencies use GPS trackers on their vehicles and fine customers who violate geographic use restrictions.
