Need some advice on transportation

We are staying in a Downtown Disney hotel and are renting a car. We have a PS for the character breakfast at Ohana's in the Polynesian. I was thinking about driving to the Polynesian for the breakfast and leaving it there. Then from there taking the monorail or the boat to Magic Kingdom. Is it possible to leave our rental car at the Polynesian all day if we're not staying there?

Officially, you can't park there and go to the parks. There are signs at the entrance to that affect. When you go to the Polynesian, the guard will give you a 3 hour parking pass.

I suggest you park in the MK parking lot, take the resort monorail (or walk) to the Polynesian. Afterwards you can take the monorail or boat to MK.

If you park at the resort and then move your car to the MK parking lot, it is pretty tricky. You need to take the exit road all the way past the toll booths and then do a U turn. It would be tough in the morning with all the cars coming into MK.
