Need some advice on a house

OK, so I think I found the perfect house: location, decor (nice, very Disney, not at all girly for my 4 boys), amenities, etc. I emailed for a quote and it came in a little more than I wanted (all inclusive), but still in budget.

Sounds great right? Problem was I emailed for a few follow up questions: deposit amounts, contract terms, and some other basic questions. To make sure this was THE house (no childproofing for the pool was a deal breaker since I have little ones). The owner never answered that email. Lurking around the internet (read: reading reviews on many different sites), I've found most the answers. And it is THE house.

So my question becomes: Do I let the house go since he never answered me? OR Do I give him the benefit of the doubt (first inquiry was answered instantly) because there is the very real possibility that the email never reached him and try again?

I've been looking, and there are a couple we could stay at. Well, lots, but none no where near as perfect or as close in price. All the other houses that meet my wants (location, decor, not girly/princess-ey) are a lot more money. All those that come close in price, are very girly or very dull/have no "Disney" to them.

I would email again and say that you just wanted to doubl check he received this second inquiry with questions. There are times that some of my emails don't go through for whatever reason.

I have 4 boys as well and had a hard time finding a house that worked for them and us for last year. May I ask which house this is? You can PM if you like. I have a hard time finding some that aren't a little girly in some rooms, but still themed.

Good Luck. I hope it works out.

[/hey,, i got 2 boys,,,lots of princesses not a lotta boys stuff...i wanna know too...you could pm me also....:scared1:I]

I would email again. Your 2nd email could have gotten lost or in his junk file. If it's really the one, I would try again.

You could also give them a call if the phone number is provided. Don't let a stray email discourage you though, there's usually a legit reason for them not getting back to you. Try the email again, it's happened to me a few times when communicating with owners. One time the owner sent me quotes/answers and it went astray somewhere and I didn't get it so I email again just to let them know that I had sent one previously and was still interested. :)

Make sure you give your message a title. Sometimes, there is a "block", or they go to spam if there is no title---I learned this the hard way when I was asking (millions of ) questions pre-trip.

Well, I took everyone's advice and followed up again. He emailed me back again a few hours later saying the house was still available and he didn't receive my follow up email. As I was emailing him back to say I definitely wanted to book it, I then received another email stating it booked. I could book the house that had glass coffee tables (not ideal with young kids, especially boys) or the house that has a girly (Mini Mouse) presence in the room (also not something my boys would like). So, I missed out and it's back to searching.

For those that were/are interested, http://www.houseforrentflorida.net/en/houses.php is the link to their houses.

OK, recommendations for a house that is/has...

  • HOUSE (not condo/townhome), if I'm doing this I want a little privacy and a driveway
  • Not heavily girl induced, as to please 4 boys tween to toddler
  • heated pool
  • Within 15 minute drive to Disney
  • Nice neighborhood/area
  • cheaper than staying onsite (the whole darn point)
  • Disney decorated (does not look like a floral shop threw-up to paraphrase my 7yo)

Is that really that much to ask???

your link isn't bringing up anything for me :(

I hope you find something.... and LOL at your 7yo comment. That is what my MIL's house looks like!

WOW LOVELY HOUSES..i'm leaning to the 1 with the spa and more private pool..but how far is Indian creek??? really? much farther than windsor hills??
i'm waiting for a quote..

Indian Creek is honestly just another minute or so from Windsor Hills.

It would only take you one minute longer to get to Disney from Indian Creek than from Windsor Hills. From the entrance of each subdivision I would say it's about the same time, it's all according to how far into the subdivisions the homes are. :)

Well, good luck! Even if I didn't get the house I wanted, someone should. <sigh> There are THOUSANDS of homes out there. Why is it so hard to find one that works??? I'm seriously considering changing my dates. lol

wow still havnt heard from the guy...guess i'll look elsewhere.........:headache:

How did you contact him?

Someone told me that he is in the process of moving (Canada to states) and that might have been the problem I had earlier. I had no problems when I sent him mail through his independent website. All his houses are on VRBO too--I would just Google "vrbo.com, <house name>, michel" and it would pop up.

I also noticed that he uses a translator site (I believe he is French-Candian--conjecture on my part). And I think that might result in email issues. IDK.

I did end up renting a different house from him. When mine was rented out to someone else, he offered it to me, but I said no because of mini mouse. He let me know that the bedding ended up being changed to Mickey, so it was a go on our end.

I would give it one more try.

We almost rented from this owner, but in the end the dates available didn't work for us.

His houses are lovely though and we'll consider him for next year.

Yes, he is French-Canadian.

i will try that...thnx i have a windsor hill townhse as a back up..but still would like a quote...
