Hello all,
I know 2019 packages are far away but I am trying to get a ball park price of what I will spend My party consists of 6 adults and 1 two year old. I am currently looking at staying at the All star Music suite. I am hoping to take advantage of free dinning if they offer it and upgrading the DDP plan from quick service to regular dinning plan. So my question is is there another option under the 9,000 mark. somebody told me to look at renting points and my question with that is would I be able to take part in free dinning if i rented points. Please help

While I do feel renting points is still a great idea, no you cannot take advantage of free dining if staying on dvc points (if renting or owned). Happy planning!!!

The Value suites sleep lots of people, but not all in real beds. I don't know how 'adult' your travelers are, but I would much rather have two connecting Moderates or even Value rooms which have much more comfortable bedding for everyone. Connecting rooms are not guarantee, but they will try and can move you the next day if a better pair of rooms becomes available. It's not the end of the world for most adults as long as rooms are nearby. We are in two rooms at Caribbean Beach with 7 people this December, and the 'free' dining package was a great savings for us. We upgraded the dining package for one room to DxDP and left the other as QS (which you cannot do with everyone in one room). Two rooms at a Value resort would have been an even better deal, but were not available for our preferred dates. Availability for the free dining promotion is extremely limited, so I would not count on it.

In your situation, I would plan on booking two rooms at a Value or Mod whenever rooms are released. Then, stalk for discounts. Whenever discounts are released (free-dining or other room/package), see if you can find a better deal at any of the resorts. I expect you will find the best value in a room-only discount with the DxDP added to one room (at full cost then shared with everyone in the party).

Cost estimates depend on what month/weeks and how many days you want to travel, but if you give me more info, I'd be happy to run some numbers and hazard a guess for 2019.

Under the 9,000 mark for what? Room only? Or are you looking to spend 9,000 total including meals and tickets? And for how many days?

It annoys the heck out of me when people arbitrarily suggest renting points. There is a lot to consider when you do this, not the least of which is when you want to travel, how comfortable you are with your dates being set in stone, can you pay it all upfront, and what you want from a resort stay?

I suggest you look at what your dates are and then just start shopping around on the website. Think about dining in general and dining plans if you are interested in them, how may park days tickets you will be planning, total budget and how you want to allocate that budget in regards to lodging. Pay attention to comfort. That suite may seem like a great option, but who is going to sleep on the pull out things? I would opt for two rooms anywhere else before I agreed to spend my vacation on a pull out, but I know this about myself.

I also suggest you watch the discounts that are offered for the season you plan to visit, and compare them to what the cost would be if you chose to rent points somewhere. With 6 adults you may be looking at a level of villa that is not going to be as cost effective as two rooms in a value or moderate, depending on the discount that may be offered. We never know what is going to be offered, but it is worth thinking about before you commit to renting.

Can you share more about your dynamics and dates, as well as how you want to allocate your budget so we can provide further thoughts?

Two rooms at a Value or even a Family Suite (if your child will be under 3 in 2019?) will be cheaper than a 2BR DVC unit, even on points. Point rental qualifies for no further discounts from Disney, including Free Dining. It is a final transaction.
