Need some ADR ideas

We won a trip to Disney and I'm not sure which date they're giving us, but if we get our first choice, I'll need to make ADRs tomorrow.

We are going in August because I already planned and paid for that vacation and for that trip we are going to 'Ohana, Sci-Fi, San Angel Inn, Crystal Palace, Le Cellier, and Coral Reef, all for dinner.

I'd like to make all dinner reservations for the November trip and for somewhere we haven't gone. I don't want 50's Prime Time because we did that on our last trip and eh, we weren't impressed.

Any good recommendations? We need 3 of them. I don't want places that are too expensive because we'll have to pay OOP. Actually, they are giving us a Disney gift card to help pay for meals, but it's not for too much.

I don't think I want character meals because right now DD is afraid of characters. We're doing Crystal Palace with Winnie the Pooh in August just to see how it goes, but she might freak out. LOL She'll be 4 and she's very shy. My DS is 11 and he doesn't care about the characters.

How about 50's Prime Time at MGM? One of our favorite places. Prices are reasonable and the wait staff are very entertaining. :)

We like Kona Cafe at Polynesian. My DD7 can make a meal out of the sticky chicken wings and still leave some for me. :rotfl2:

Also, Teppanyaki is good, and since the chef prepares the food in front of you, it includes a show. Added benefit, the food is always served hot. They offer kid's meals, or you could get an adult meal, and have the 2 share it. :goodvibes

We enjoyed Raglan Road in DTD last trip and are planning a return trip in Sept.

For a good CS, we like Cosmic Rays in MK. My DM, DD7, and I share the chicken and ribs combo. Tastes good, and is a very good value.

Another good CS we ate at for the first time last trip was Tangierine Cafe in Morocco. Generous serving size, and very tasty. My DD didn't eat there but we got her some chicken nuggets across the lake at McDonalds outpost located near Canada.

If your DD can handle characters, we like 1900 Park Fare. They have Cinderella and Prince Charming (along with the mice Suzy and Perla) at dinner. The food there is very good. We aren't going there next trip because they will be temporarily relocated and serving pre-plated. This is from 7/9/07 - 10/1/07 so you should be fine. This is my favorite buffet at WDW, as far as food goes. Also good character interaction. My DD enjoys dancing around with the mice. :woohoo:

Hope these help. ( I have reviews of some of the above on my link below)

If you like steak, definately go to Le Cellier. The atmosphere is excellent and the wait staff has always been more than polite and friendly. Also the pretzel bread is out of this world.

Thanks for the ideas so far.

I think 50's Prime time is probably out, because we went there twice already. It was a long time ago, but I remember it and it was ok. I guess we aren't really into the "waitress is your sister" thing. LOL

We are going to Le Cellier in August and I think that it would be really expensive not on the dining plan Maybe though. I think I might make an ADR for our first day just in case and if we decide to eat CS or at the resort, then I'll cancel it. I'd rather make it and cancel than not make it and wish I had later.

I'm not really into the playing along stuff, but I was thinking maybe WCC for the next day and maybe Boma for the day after that. Does that sound good? We'll just wing the CS meals for lunch depending on what CS we eat in August.

Remember that you can go to different resorts for Counter Service Meals. Coronado Springs has the Pepper Market and I heard it has the best Counter Service Meals.

We stayed at POR and the Riverside Mill is Counter Service and they had make your own salad station, pasta station, hamb. etc. Me and my dh actually shared some counter service meals because you receive a lot of food.

At Animal Kingdom we were impressed with Pizzafari. 2 people could easily share a pizza. My dh had the Italian Sub and it was a very large sandwich too.

Otherwise the Boardwalk area has Spoodles, ESPN Club, which are reasonable priced food for WDW.

We liked Kona a lot, and Boma is good, too.

If your DD is 4, she would probably like Akershus for the princesses. I know you said she's shy and not crazy about characters, but the princesses are very good with little girls that age, and seeing Ariel or Belle is a lot less frightening than seeing a giant Mickey at your table.

I'm not even sure what resort we're staying at. I guess it will be a big surprise.

Kona is another possibility and Akershus too. Maybe I'll set up an ADR for Akershus and if she freaks out over Winnie the Pooh, I'll cancel it. Then again, maybe she'll be less shy by then because she starts pre-K in September and maybe being around the teachers and other kids will get her over the shyness.

She's scared to death of Santa and wanted to see the Easter bunny at the mall, but when she got a look at him, she started crying! I was in line at the grocery store today and a man said "hi" to her and she covered her face. If she wasn't in the stroller, she would have tried to hide behind me. Yep, she's shy, totally unlike my DS who never minded Santa and would talk to everyone. Oh well.

My DD was (still is sometimes) very shy. She would not see Santa. One time when she was about 2, we got on an elevator and a man entered after us. He did not speak to her or even look at her, but she started crying. At the grocery store, more than once if the checker touched the cart she was riding in (to put groceries in there), she would cry. So I know about shyness.

Anyway, you might be surprised how your shy little one does with characters. My shy girl was fine last year at Crystal Palace and Chef Mickey's, and when we got to Akershus, she completely lit up and even talked to the princesses. I think that she felt like she knew them already because she'd seen the movies. I can't stress enough, though, how good the CMs who portray the princesses are at reading young kids and responding appropriately. I would definitely try Akershus if I were you. The rooms are also not that big, so the atmosphere is fairly quiet.

How about 50's Prime Time at MGM? One of our favorite places. Prices are reasonable and the wait staff are very entertaining. :)

I hate that place

I would suggest Boma, House of Blues, and Chefs de France (for lunch)
