My best friend in the whole world just informed me that they are taking a surprise trip to WDW the same time we are going to be there. We are going to meet for dinner at Kona. I already had reservations for 4 for us. She called and asked about upping the # of people in my party. The CM told her that they only had tables available for 2 or 4, but let her book a party of 3. He said we could either keep calling back or show up at the stand and ask to be seated together. Anyone ever had any luck doing this? I told her that we could just tell the CM that if they didn't seat us together we would wear out the carpet walking back and forth to each other (I haven't seen her in over 3 years!). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated on this one!

This one is pretty easy. Just call back and have your two reservations linked in the system. Then they will know that you want to be seated together. With larger parties like this, if you had called and asked for a seating for seven, you would have gotten two tables anyway. But they would have been under one name and they would have been made at the same time so the linking would have automatically been done.

To ensure things go okay, show up a bit early and double check at the podium that they have your request noted. Actually, since Kona serves all three meals, you can show up any time during the day and check your reservation.

I tried calling. The CM I got was not very helpful. She said that I could show up there and see if they could seat us together. I am now planning on showing up early and giving it a try. However, if they can't seat us, we will probably leave - which I hate to do! I guess I'll try calling back next week and see if I have any better luck.

I would just keep checking for a CM who will help you and link you up in the system.

We're always a party of 7, and usually have two reservations that are linked. When we went for two weeks in October, we never had a problem being separated. We were always seated together, in the same situation that you are in.

Good luck :goodvibes

When you cal, have both reservation numbers and tell the Cast Member outright that you want these two linked in the system. If he/she can't do it, ask to speak to someone who can. It's fairly common but you must have run into two Cast Members who don't know how to do it.

Another option is to call with both reservation numbers, tell the Cast Member that you want to cancel those two reservations and make ONE reservation for a party of seven. But make sure it's done all at the same time so you get the reservation for seven. It's a bit riskier than the first option but make sure you are talking to someone who knows that they are doing.

I just thought of something else. Did the Cast Member tell you that nothing is guaranteed that you will sit together? That is the common line they have to give you in case something happens (very infrequently). They will tell you that even if you make the one reservation for a party of seven. That's because Disney makes the reservations by table, not by the number of people.

Yes I agree with this, we were told this every time we made a reservation. It's just that they're covering themselves in case for some odd reason they can't seat us together.

We ate there last Aug. and we were all seated together. We are a party of
7. We were seated at a large round table. Much more comfortable than being seated at a table for 6 with a chair added at the end of the table. So they can seat 7 and have before!

That can be true. But if that is the only table for seven in the whole place and it's already reserved, then they have to do something else. I ran into the same thing with Cape May when I wanted to make a reservation for 11. I wanted two tables of six. I was told there two tables of six but they were not near each other in the restaurant at all. We ended up with one table of six and one table of four but one length of both tables was one long bench so we could have an extra person.

It just depends on the restuarant and in what order their tables are reserved.
