Need School Fundraiser Ideas

My daughter's dance team just started a fundraiser. They are selling books of coupons, and it really is 'book-size', about as big as a large softcover paperback. They sell for $20.00 each, but it is easy to get back the cost of the book if you use the coupons inside. All the coupons and discounts are good for one year, and there are a lot of popular establishments that are represented. I've flipped through one and saw coupons for Arby's, KFC, Burger King, other eating places, stores, hotel/motels, car rentals, movie theatres, and much more.
DS's school and other organizations here have a smaller scale book for just our immediate area. They sell for $10 each. Seems to go over very well. I'm not sure who puts them out, but they aren't from Entertainment.

Party Lite candles worked well for my son's former school.

Definitely World's Finest Chocolate.

We sold that to raise money for the American Stroke Association when we did our Marathon. It sells itself. I brought it to my office and people would come to me for it.

Also, we went to local vendors and asked for donations and made our own raffle tickets. We had 20 prizes and charged $5 per ticket. Each ticket got you a chance to win one of the 20 prizes. That was a great seller also.

Our school of almost 700 raises over $20,000 a year from candy sales ($1.00 each) and Yankee Candle Sales. They're done together and are really easy to run. We also let the parents know that if they don't want to sell anything, the PTO would be happy to take donations instead - lots of people want this option.

During the course of the year we have a couple of book fairs and a holiday fair but, while they raise a little bit of money, they're more for a service.

Our Middle School just asks for $20.00 from every family. Plenty of people don't contribute but they're happy for whatever they get. Of course, they don't need as many programs.

Usborne Books offers a great Read-A-Thon fundraiser. If anyone is interested you can PM me for details.

We did very well with rummage sales held in the school parking lot. Very small school only 100 students but we made over $5,000 on one of the sales.

The smaller, $10 coupon books are called "School Coupons"... they're a GREAT fundraiser - the school gets $7 per book sold. The company offers decent incentives, too.

Our small private school sold 500 of these over the past 2 years.

Scrip is a great fund raiser - if you can get the families in on the method - you pre-order your gift cards you then use to purchase items - Kroger and some other grocery stores are in the group. The school buys the cards for less than face value.

We always do well with silent auctions - get donations from local/national merchants, then sell them. We always have a SI at our spring family fun day - make more $$ from that than from ticket/food sales. You could modify it a bit - have your items on display in the hallway, or do a SI at a PTO meeting/Open House.

www.ptotoday.com has forums with a wealth of information!!

Oh my it's only the begining of November and my DS's school has had NUMEROUS  fund raisers so far. We started off the year with the wrapping paper drive. They also had magazines subscriptions, and all the other junk in the catalog. They also had a walk a thon, Yankee candle sales, ice cream social, pies, cookie dough, dessert breads, coffee, entertainment books, Sunday morning breakfast, and a few more that I can't remember right now. We have a Christmas wreath sale coming up, and a pasta dinner night. I know they have the candy bar sales in Spring.

My DS goes to a Catholic school. The school has Prek 3 till 8th graders. My DS is in Pre-K 4. Each class has only 30-40 kids.

I just wanted to mention another fund raiser. It seems each day one of my nieces or nephews is selling something.

My nephew is selling gift cards for a big grocery store chain. The school got a deal where they buy these gift cards up front and save 25% off the total cost for each one they buy. They are $10 gift cards to be redeemed for $10 in merchandise. The school makes $2.50 for each $10 card sold. You can't go wrong with a $10 grocery store gift card. The only drawback is the school had to front the money to buy the gift cards before they could sell the cards.
