Need scanner help!

We have a printer/scanner/copier that came with our computer. It's an HP Photosmart. I can't find the manual, and I'm really puzzled with it!!!

I'm trying to scan photos. I figure that if I put 4 photos on the glass, that are all together the size of an 8.5 x 11" sheet of paper, it will scan them as such.

But no --- it scanned ONE of the photos. And oddly enough, it was the one in the upper LEFT hand corner, when I would think it would be the one in the upper right.

I don't really want to scan these photos one at a time if I don't have to!

Any ideas?!?

That happens to me. The scanner senses what's on the glass - sometimes it helps to put a colored piece of paper behind the photos. Some scanner software allows you to Select Area to Scan.

There is probably a manual online somewhere.
