Need San Diego advice

My wife will be accompanying me to San Diego at the end of May for a business trip. We were there with our 3 kids a couple of years ago, but this time we are going solo--so I think the agenda changes a bit.

We will have a full afternoon and evening to ourselves on the first day..and two more evenings after that to spend on our own. We will be staying at the Westin Horton Plaza (6 blocks from Seaport Village). Any advice as to what type of entertainment we should build into our agenda? She will be using the days during my conference to shop--so please don't suggest anything about shopping.

When I was there, only for a few days on a business trip, I did the usual touristy things, Seaport Village, a ferry over to Coronado and the Del, Gaslamp District, Balboa Park, dinner at Croce's. It is a beautiful city, wish I had more time there.

Shopping at Night.

You are right in the middle of the Gaslamp District. Are you looking for restaurants? What type of food do you like?

You must watch a sunset. You can watch it from the beach, a hot air balloon, a biplane, a restaurant or on the top of a cliff overlooking the ocean.

For a great night time view, go to the top of the Manchester Grand Hyatt for drinks. It is just blocks from where you are staying.

If you like Mexican food, I suggest Casa de Bandini in Old Town. The food is authentic and strolling mariachis will serenade you.

If you want to dance the night away, there are many clubs in the Gaslamp. And live music for any taste.
