I'm having trouble deciding on where to eat at MGM. Kids are DD 13 and DS 3, along with DH and I. What's the Sci-Fi menu like? How are the prices? I appreciate any reviews! TIA

Just ate there last week. Food was good, but entrees were small portioned for us - we were starving for dinner. It's a great place to experience once - the atmosphere is one of a kind, the kids can get a glow in the dark ice cube with their meal. But it's not one of those "I can't wait to go back!" type of places.

We LOVE the atmosphere and it's someplace we visit every trip! The prices however, are high and the food so so. We like to go for dessert or split a large burger between two of us. Hope this helps!

Everyone seems to have varying opinions of Sci-Fi. Sci-Fi is my personal favorite WDW restaurant. I love the theming, the food is good and we HAVE to go back here everytime we visit WDW.

I recommend getting the cheeseburger, fries & milkshake. Enjoy the shows too!

As DrKnow77 just said, there seems to be a wide range of opinions on the Sci-Fi experience. I think it is OK, and worth a try if you haven't been before, but probably not a "must-do" for a repeat visitor. For more opinions, you might want to check out the following recent Sci-Fi threads:

Lastly, you can check out the Sci-Fi menus (with prices) at Deb's WDW Information Guide:

Whatever you decide, enjoy your trip! :earsboy:

We tried the Sci-Fi for the first time in early December. We thought it was a lot of fun. The food was actually pretty good (hamburger and fries) and didn't think the price to all that high for Disney food. The burger was pretty big (1/2 lb I think) and there were quite a bit of fries. It was definately enough food for us (we didn't finish the whole thing).

This will be something that we will definately do again!

We have PSs for SciFi next week. When we go to WDW, each family member has a dinner choice. SciFi was DS 12 choice.

Does anyone know if burgers and sandwiches are also offered at dinner?

And how do you get a glow in the dark ice cube???? The kids would LOVE that!

We purchased a couple of ice cubes when we were there. You buy your drink in a souvenier cup that contains the ice cube. You have your choice of a few different colors. It is a really neat thing as it is dark in the restaurant and your drink glows. They are $5.99 and they will refill your drink. The ice cube has a way of turning it on and off so it can be used again and again.

When I was at Sci-Fi last, the burgers were not on the dinner menu, but the waiter said that they were available. The dinner food is ok, but the lunch is better. Great atmosphere though. I would recogmend going.

We were there November 26, at about 3:30 in the afternoon. We had really been looking forward to it, since we had been there in 2000 and wanted to get a good picture this time.

The atmosphere is still worth going for. But we were all disappointed with the food (except for the Cookies n Cream milk shake -- very good). It was dry and not really very appetizing. And of course, it is not cheap.

Next time, we'll probably "been-there-done-that" it and look elsewhere for our food.

We love it - burgers, sandwiches, salads, and great milkshakes!!

Got to say this was probably the worst restaurant of our last trip. Not bad, but not great by a long shot. The atmosphere was really cool, and it was worth going to once, but I doubt we'll be returning. We had better food at counter service for a lot less money.

Not one of my favorites, however, my kids love the place and love the atmosphere of the place. Like others have already posted I have had better food.

We had avoided it because of the bad reviews, but decided to give it a try for the atmosphere.

We all liked our food and will be going back next week.

DS10 first choice for lunch. He thought it was great!:D

It's one of my 12 yo DS's fav's - for us, it's alright, but I wouldn't race back there if it weren't for him! LOL Though .. they do have pretty good burgers, and good shakes.

DH and I ate there in September. Food was on the mediocre side, service was a bit slow. The atmosphere was really fun, though. Had it not been for that, we would not have liked it much at all.

I've posted my opinion of Sci-Fi before, but my general feeling is that things have improved significantly. Burgers and fries are fine, not outstanding, but the atmosphere can't be beat. And, my DD and friend split a penne pasta and shrimp entree that was amazingly good, better than my burger.

One little tip - if you decide to drop by on a whim without PS, they just about always have tables available, because most folks would prefer to sit in the cars. I remember our local drive-in having the same setup - picnic tables with umbrellas by the concession stand, and Sci-Fi has replecated that. You might lose a little of the charm by not sitting in the car, but the tables have the same view of all the goings-on.

Give it a shot. I'll give most any restaurant two chances to please me.

This is a favorite of our almost 4 year old DS. Understandably, he loves the fact that he is eating his meal while sitting in a car watching "TV". The food is OK, the prices are high, but if you are looking for a place to spend a peaceful meal, it's here, because your kids will most definitely be occupied!

We're going to give it a try, it sounds like fun! My kids and I recently rediscovered the joys of drive-in movies this past summer and they'll love the food, I'm sure (after all, they ate hot dogs and popcorn most Friday nights at the drive-in while DH was working!). As for me, if they have chicken strips equivalent to the food courts, I'll be happy! Anyone know if they do?

TIA
