Hello All,

I'm currently planning our Summer 2009  trip to Disneyworld and as always, restaurant choices are of vital importance to me. So far I have...

~ Lunch @ Kona Cafe
~ Dinner @ Le Cellier
~ Breakfast @ Captain Cook's
~ Lunch @ Liberty Tree Tavern
~ Dinner @ Crystal Palace
~ Breakfast @ Ohana's

Right now I need...
~ 2 Epcot CS (2 lunch)
~ 1 HS CS (lunch)
~ 1 HS TS (dinner)
~ 1 AK CS (lunch)
~ 1 AK TS (dinner)
~ 1 MK (or Poly, GF, CR) TS (breakfast)

I'd also like some ideas for a DTD dinner, but something not too expensive.

Thanks A Lot,
Simon :)

What is HS? I'm confused.

for an AK TS I'd do one of the new ones like Tusker House or Yak & Yeti. I haven't been to either yet (but I will in September!!)

for AK CS I LOVE:love: Flame Tree BBQ. I think it is great!:thumbsup2

for the MK breakfast--how about Chef Mickey's?:lovestruc
We never miss this!

BTW, it is NEVER too early to plan. And, picking dining ADRs is the most fun!:dance3:

HS is Hollywood Studios (the new name of the Studios)

OH yes.... I guess that will take some getting used to. :lmao:

Very well then.... HS TS, I vote for Prime Time!:thumbsup2

For MK Breakfast, we love Crystal Palace. Chef Mickey's if also very good
For Epcot CS -- Sunshine Seasons. We have also dined at the Rose & Crown counter servcice
We don't like any of the CS at HS, but if we had to choose, it would be Backlot Express
We like Mama Melrose at HS for our table service meal
We have never done a TS at Animal Kingdom, but love Flame Tree Barbecue for our counter service every trip

In Epcot, Sunshine Seasons Food Fair is so good you can go twice. There are different stations, each with very different offerings. The salads are great. My favorites are the seared Tuna and the goat cheese beet one. The sandwiches are really big. The breasted chicken was excellent, with a great choice of sides. The sushi was OK for fast food. The asian food was not so good, mushy veggies and heavy sauces. Big portions, though. If you like shopping mall chinese, you might like it. Alot of people do. The desserts are the highlight, though. Strawberry shortcake is nice and creamy with real strawberries. Cakes and ice cream are awesome, too. This place has something for everyone.

In HS, Starring Rolls Bakery is overlooked for lunch. They have great sandwiches. I had a Turkey Brie sandwich that was to die for. DH had a pork sandwich. My friends had the black forrest ham. There was alot of meat on these babies, with great sauces and lots of veggies. The desserts are really good, too. I was so full from the sandwich, I couldn't eat dessert. I took it with me and, full or not, devoured it within 2 hours. Don't overlook this place. Don't suggest ABC Commisary or Backlot Express (unless you want a chili dog.)

I am not too thrilled with the HS table service options. Mama's is OK if you want the Fantasmic package or don't want to leave the park. My suggestion, however, is to hop on a boat and go to Boardwalk, Yacht Club/ Beach Club or Swan/Dolphin. Each have some great restaurants, fitting all pocketbooks, and they give you a short break from the park.

I agree about Flame Tree. Can't be beat IMHO for AK counter service. As for dinner, I would again leave the park to AK Lodge. Boma has an awesome buffet, with something for everyone. The coconut curry seafood stew and the desserts are food for the Gods. The prime rib is so good, I once saw a guy eat nothing else, and fill his plate several times. If you want to splurge, go to Jiko. It is a superb dining experience you won't forget.

You have two of my favorites for your MK days. Kona is great for dinner, as is O'Hana too. If going to O'Hana, be sure to go on a Friday or Saturday night. The food has been good every time I have eaten there on a weekend. During the week, it has never been good. The Tamu Tamu lounge has the best Mai Tai outside of Trader Vic's original in Chicago. It is worth the short monorail ride. If you want a super dining experience, go to Narcoosees or Citricos. Neither of these places are really appropriate if you want to hurry back to the park, though. The food at either place is excellent and a destination dining experience.

Hope these opinions help. Good luck in your choices.

OOPS! I forgot two very important breakfast words. TONGA TOAST!!!!

Oh Trader Vic's!!!!!! They had the best Mai Tai EVER!:goodvibes

do you know where the next closest one is? I am still so upset that it is closed... I used to love going into the basement of the Palmer house...lots of good memories there!! I spent my wedding night drinking Mai Tais there!:lovestruc

Thanks for the tips! I think I might do what Niki suggested and leave the HS at about 4:30 PM by boat and have a ~5:00 PM dinner at one of the Epcot resorts, then spend the rest of the evening at Epcot. :)

Haven't had a TS at AK yet, but the Flame Tree BBQ is awesome! You get a good portion as well. The Biergarten, Rose and Crown and San Angel's all have CS at Epcot as well as TS if you like those types of cuisine. We like the Electric Umbrella (though we usually go find someplace else to eat our meal as it's always crowded) but the food is good. The American Adventure at Epcot is also good for CS. Another suggestion (for TS at Epcot) would be the Garden Grill. Food is excellent, atmosphere and service are excellent and best of all....you get to eat with Mickey himself!
