Hi! I posted earlier but think I messed up, so I apologize if this shows up as a dup! This is my first post on any forum! You guys are the best. We went to disney in May with 15 family members. This board was way more helpful than Magical Gatherings. They didn't help at all, this board helped us make the trip! But I have never posted before and now I really need help. We are going back in late Nov and we are lost on what resort to pick. Last visit was WL Villas. Wonderful place, but not in budget this time. Time before was CR, great location but one room with a 3 year old is not working for us. So we need 2 rooms and to keep in budget, we decided to go with a moderate resort and get connecting rooms. We have never stayed at a moderate resort and need help! We want good, fast access to the parks. Our child still naps so we need to get back and forth and have it be easy. We like to park our car and leave it so we are a little worried about transporation as we never really used the bus system a lot and are unfamiliar as to how well it works at these resorts. We'll go to all the parks but MK and Epcot are the ones we spend the most time. So what resort should we pick? I'm leaning towards CBR or POR but maybe POFQ? I just don't know. Help please!!! Thanks so much!

For information on CBR I suggest looking at the two CBR FAQ's listed below.

Welcome to the DIS.

POFQ is smaller then POR, so maybe better for your family!!! The pool with the slide is great!! Your DS will love it!!!

Have a nice trip!!!

With a young family, I would choose POFQ over POR, as it is smaller to navigate. There is no sitdown restaurant at FQ though, you must go to POR for that.

CBR is beautiful; it is where we always went as a child. It is, however, much larger than POFQ. You will want to request a room in a location that would work well for the kiddos (close to the food court usually!). The colors are bright and tropical. There is a sitdown restaurant here.

They all operate only on bus transportation to the parks, but POR and FQ have the boat to DTD. If you are planning on going there at night, this is a nice way to travel.

It's too bad you can't stay at a Epcot resort. You can walk to Epcot, walk to MGM or take a short bost ride to either. No bus lines to go in exceot for MK or AK. These are the only resorts that let you have access to 2 parks as far as I know. We hve stayed at BCV and BWV as DVC memebrs so we had a 1BR abd it's 2 rooms. I saw the Swan and Dolphin rooms and they are nice but hotel rooms, not 2 rooms (as far as I know). These may all be too expensive anyway. i know DVC rents out rooms but I don't know the price of a 1BR which has a sofa sleeper too. For the rest, you would have to travel for any resort. VWL has a boat for MK. We like Port Orleans too but it's not attached to any resort. :earsgirl:

Hi! Welcome to the dis  My first trip without my hubby it was just me & 2 kids we stayed at POFQ and loved it made the trip easier for me very compact & beautiful resort

We rented points at a DVC resort in August and saved a lot of money. Take a look at the rent/trade boards for DVC.

I also would suggest looking into renting points from a DVC owner since you are looking for two rooms. You might be able to get a one bedroom (sleeper in living area) in a deluxe resort for less money.

If not, POFQ is great for a family with little ones. Small in size so not as much walking. Pool is great for young kids. It also offers a boat ride to DTD. Because it is a smaller resort, it does book up fast.

Transportation will take time with these resorts. There's no getting around that. But it is totally ok if you can not get uptight about it. I would plan on a half hour transport time (give or take of course depending on crowds). That includes waiting for bus, ride on bus, and drop off. At park closing it could take longer. At POFQ you share a bus with POR. POFQ is the first to get picked up, but then you have to pick up 1 to 4 stops at POR. POFQ is the first to get dropped off.
