Need replacement for Beaches & Cream

This refurb is really putting a damper on our first night for the trip this August. It seemed like the perfect place to go to ease into vacation since its right at the resort and sounds amazing (we’ve never been!). But now I need to find a replacement dinner.

We are eating at al forno for bfast one day, il mulino for dinner another day and cape may is out (not a ton of seafood lovers in the group).

I am not 100% opposed to going to disney springs or a resort restaurant (ohana, geyser point, etc.) if its close enough but id prefer not to drag the whole group away from the resort area after weve all just flown in. Should we suck it up and leave the area? Is there another place in the BC/UC/BWI/S&D area we should try?

What do you all think?

Cheers!

There's Ale & Compass (YC) & Cape May Cafe (BC) right on site thats more causal like B&C. When staying ay the YC, we generally go into Epcot for dinner (even the day we fly in) but have enjoyed other meals at these two restaurants.

Aww, bummer! Beaches and Cream is so fun.

I wouldn’t leave the Epcot resorts. I would stick around and enjoy the resort area. Maybe ESPN Club at Boardwalk, then get ice cream at Ample Hills after?

A lot of people recommend the Fountain at the Dolphin. We have never been, but it looks cute. Also have heard good things about Ale & Compass but have never been.

If you are looking for burgers and such, I would consider Big river Grill.
After, for ice cream, I really enjoy Ample Hills on Boardwalk.

Years ago my family and I ate at Big River Grille and we loved it!
It's right on the Boardwalk, just hope not too much has changed there!

Exactly what I was going to suggest! Although I haven't yet tried either of these places, they are nearby and between the two of them, they have the same type of foods as Beaches and Cream.

Big River Grille on Boardwalk then Ample Hills Creamery for the best ice cream at WDW!!:teeth:

There are a lot of options in that area. As others have mentioned, the Fountain at the Dolphin has a "soda fountain" vibe and, though not as cute as Beaches and Cream, the menu is quite similar. Garden Grove at the Swan is a character buffet. If you are a AAA member and bring your card, you would get 20% off at either of those restaurants. If you want something more upscale, bluezoo at the Dolphin is excellent. If you like sushi, Kimono's at the Swan is great. Ale & Compass at YC is very good. As PP's pointed out, there is ESPN Club and Big River on the Boardwalk. Food isn't great, IMHO, but they are casual and the Boardwalk is really fun. I also vote for ice cream at Ample Hills!

Thanks for the heads up. I didn't know about the refurbishment and I'd planned lunch there on our arrival day. We're staying at BWV so we'll probably just hit the brewery or ESPN instead. I'll miss B&C though since we haven't been since 2009 and I was looking forward to it. Darn.

Ghirardelli at Disney Springs is my favorite place for ice cream. Not a whole lot of places inside to sit, but you can find plenty of sports outside.

Another vote for the Fountain at the Dolphin! Much less crowded than B&C (and they have a AAA discount if you are a member)

Love Ale & Compass and Big River. We also just like to grab a table by the pool and use the wait service from Hurricane Hannah's. Easy peasy and the food has always been hot and good.

We are staying at BC and wanted to do B&C arrival night but we're a larger party and couldn't get a table. Currently I have reservations at Ale & Compass and ESPN.... I think we will do ESPN, then get ice-cream at Ample Hills and check out the buskers on the Boardwalk.

We tried dinner at the Fountain in Nov and it was my teenage daughters favorite meal. According to her they have the best fried ever.
We were all happy with the food. The service was a little strange but we happened to have a meal when the waitresses changed shifts so hopefully it is normally better. We went on a Sat. Night in Nov. and had no wait which was nice.

I woudl suggest the Fountain as well. It is a short walk and will be as close to the B&C vibe as possible. It also has teh AAA discount, and who does not like that?

You could try the Boardwalk Pizza window. They recently re-vamped their pizza recipe. We tried it on our visit in December and it was a HUGE improvement over what they used to have. Prior to this change, I wouldn't eat there, but now, I would go back again without hesitation. After pizza, you could pop into Ample Hills Creamery for ice cream.

The Boardwalk Bakery is also right there, so you could pop in and check out what they have. They are kind of hit-or-miss for me when it comes to meal-type food (I love their treats though!). I think their menu changes somewhat frequently.

ESPN is also right there. They have decent burgers/bar food, if that is what you are looking for.

I also recommend the Fountain at the Dolphin. They have decent burgers and hot dogs.

Have a great trip!
