Hey everyone - love this forum!

My family will be making our trip on May 28 - June 4 - this was just moved up yesterday (previously August) and now I am stressing - I have a 3 1/2 yo girl, 13 yo boy, and an 18 mo boy.

I need to know the best places to dine - we have the MYW dining plan and I definitely want to do character meals - what are the MUST DO restaurants?

Also what is a PS? Is that a reservation? How do I make it?

Thanks for everything!

Kathy

Ps is a reservation you make it by calling 1-407-wdw-dine

MK's must eat for us is LTT, its Minnie and friends at night and it's a New England style family thanksgiving dinner. If your kids won't eat that I reccomend the Crystal Palace, that is Pooh and Friends again at dinner is awesome and they have a kids buffet bar and a make your own sundae bar.

Epcot, if it's open (I think it is now) is the Garden Grill, thats Chip and Dale's all you can eat restaurant, it rotates (very slowly) on a platform, the food was always really good and they have traditional kids fare.

AK...well we don't do AK so I'm no help here.

MGM our must do is 50's Prime Time, it's a place you can be semi fresh with your wait staff and have it ENHANCE the experience! It's homecooking again with a traditional kids menu, the kids menu also has sandwiches, I usually order the ham and cheese.

As far as resort restaurants go we used to go to Chef Mickey's which is fun, I just prefer dining in the parks. Our first night we go to WCC at the WL.

Take a look at www.allearsnet.com they have all the menus!!!

How may days will you be there, I would do some character dinners, we enjoy the crystal palace in the MK, Chef Mickey is also terrific, depending on how long you stay will have an impact on which restaurants to try....

We love Ohana at the Polynesian Resort, it is a fun family style meal that is all your can eat. Also, Whispering Canyon Cafe is lots of fun, my kids loved it there. This all depends on how long you will be there, of course, and where you are staying. You will definitely want to do some character meals, but they can get old after a week, especially for the older ones.
Cape May Buffet is a Clambake in the evening and is supposed to be really good. On the Boardwalk, there is ESPN Club and in Epcot, I would try La Cellier. My boys are anxious to try Planet Hollywood in Downtown Disney next trip, and they loved the Rainforest Cafe.
For character meals, I would do lunch at the Crystal Palace, dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern, or breakfast or lunch at Cinderella's Royal Table, even though it is Princesses

Yes, and no... I like to think of it more as "call ahead seating". They know you're coming, but they don't actually hold a table for you like true reservations. With PS'es you may still have a short wait time, but you are put ahead in line over those who just walk up or have a later PS.

Check this link for a great FAQ on PSes http://allearsnet.com/din/reserv.htm

I believe they changed it now from PS to ADR (advance dining reservation)

Yes, but its still the same process.. they still don't hold a table for you until you get there. I think the new name is going to cause even more confusion for guests and Disney alike! :sad2:

I would suggest Chef Mickey's, Liberty Tavern Inn(only dinnner has characters),Concourse SteakHouse(Le Cellier has a more adult feel IMHO),Ohana's

I would suggest Garden Grill but they have changed the menu and it doesn't sound too good for the young ones.

Go to Debs all Ears and go to the Dining section and check out all the restaurants and their offerings.

Cindy's Royal Table is real good for dinner but they don't have characters and it is pretty hard to get a ADR(PS)

At Animal Kingdom definitely go to Tusker House-YUMMY!
At MGM-I think the kids would enjoy Prime Time cafe

Good Luck!

I would definitely call and make those PS's asap. I would try for Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner, Chef Mickey's breakfast or dinner, Ohana for dinner, Sci-FI for lunch, Princess Storybook Lunch or Dinner, Crystal Palace for lunch or dinner, 1900 Park Fare for lunch or dinner. Any combination of these should fit your needs.

just what I needed. I called today and of course couldn't get CRT, but scheduled the princesses dinner at Norway - my daughter loves Belle, Aerial, Jasmine, and Aurora -

I am trying to get a handle on this trip - we'll be in the parks with a hopper for 5 days.

I am so excited, but stressed out at the same time!

Thanks again!

Keep the suggestions coming...

We like Chef Mickey (I think more "fun" than the other character meals) and O'hana's (they have coconut/broom races and hoola hooping for the little ones), all you can eat, served at the table. Very good.

For Cinderella, you might want to try 1900 Park Fair for dinner. It's an excellent buffet too. In the AM for breakfast buffet they have Alice In Wonderland, Mad Hatter, Mary Poppins, and I think Eeyore and Pooh.

Sci Fi is fun too.

Well, here's what I have so far...we arrive Saturday 5/28 early afternoon and check out Saturday June 4th - that's 7 nights.

Sun 5/29 MK - LTT 7:00 p.m.
Mon 5/30 Epcot - Princess Storybook at Akershus 5:40 p.m.
Tues 6/1 Chef Mickey's at 11:10 a.m. then off to MGM
Fri 6/3 1900 Park Fare at 4:30

So....I still have 3 TS and 7 CS meals - any suggestions? I was thinking of some steak/seafood place? - Remember my children are 18 mos, 3, and 13 -

Thanks for your help.

Kathy

My family goes all the time. Last time we went my niece turned 4 on the trip and my nephew had just turned 7.

Both the kids really liked Sci-Fi. We only go there for lunch. I have heard their dinner isn't as good. But they love the fact you get to seat in cars and watching the screen. Plus the liked the glow in the dark cubes. Also the shakes were really good.

Another table service we liked was Boma. We had a great meal here and the kids loved it too. Our server was awesome too.

We haven't been here but plan to go in Dec to Le Cellier (and the kids will be with us). I have heard it's really good too.

For counter service, we like Flame Tree bbq at AK. It's really good and you get a lot of food. I've heard Earl of Sandwich is really good at DTD. We have it on our list of places to eat for Dec. We like Main Street Bakery too at Mk. They have great breakfast stuff and snacks.

Wow, with the range in ages it will be interesting to please everyone at every meal. My ds-almost 14 is not that keen on character meals. He will attend one but that is his limit. We always make it a breakfast one because that is his favorite meal of the day. We like CP and Cape May. For lunches we like Sci Fi at MGM, Casey's in MK, Rainforest Cafe in AK and in EPCOT we like Mexico, UK, Italy and France. For dinner we like so many places but he especially loves YSH, ESPN Club, Palio and Flying Fish. We will be in the World when you are. We are at the YC so that influences some of our choices - go with what is close. Have a magical time :Pinkbounc

For CS, we love Flame Tree Barbeque at AK. I have heard Tusker House is good too, but we have never tried it (just can't seem to sway away from Flame Tree!). Check out the menus for both of those restaurants.

For TS, we love LeCellier in Canada in Epcot. I dare say they have the best filet mignon I've ever had (the mushroom filet mignon meal). This is probably the best steak restaurant I can think to recommend. Your kids will love the pretzel bread there. The cheese soup is great too.

For character meals, I'm glad you chose Chef Mickeys. We have not tried all the character meals yet, but from the ones we have tried, we think Chef Mickey's is the most fun.

I don't think anyone has mentioned checking out the thread with all the food pictures that is "stuck" at the top of the restaurant forum page. Looking at the food always help me decide, if it doesn't look good than I ain't biting!

I have to second the Flame Tree BBQ suggestion. I have the same problem with not wanting to leave Flame Tree in order to try the Tusker House. My whole family enjoys it.

Good luck! :goodvibes
