So my husband doesn't notice that we're on a late flight home, I'd love to have a plan for a relaxing last day. Any ideas for a resort restaurant that has a leisurely pace, serene(ish) atmosphere with a nice lunch menu?

What time is your flight?. How are you getting to the airport? MCO wants 4 hours lead time. Do you have time for a leisurely lunch?

6 pm. Car. 4 hours? And yes, I'm pretty sure we do.
I did see the ME info noting 4 hour advance pick up time but I assumed that was specific to ME. We flew out of MCO early this month and arrived 2 hours before our flight. Didn't have a problem getting to our gate. Thank you for the information but that can't be right.

Where are you staying? I like The Wave at the Contemporary. Good food, nice, relaxing atmosphere and pretty easy to get to.

If it were me, I would consider something in the Boardwalk area (the new Ale & Compass, maybe?) or even Disney Springs, so that I could walk around and enjoy the scenery and shops after the meal - maybe even grab dessert at Beaches & Cream, or an early happy hour at the Hanger Bar!

Since you are at the Cabins, why not Trail's End? Food there is pretty good, and you would not have to leave the resort. Otherwise, yes, the Wave is a nice place to eat also. And then you can just take a boat and walk. If you have a car, or want to taxi, uber, etc., then any resort restaurant that has food you are interested in, would be good. Eat lunch and enjoy the grounds and hotel before you have to leave for the airport.

If you are going to MCO by car, I also put in for Sanaa at Kidani. We LOVE the food, the lunch atmosphere is quiet and relaxing. On our pool days when staying at AKL, we head over to Sanaa for an 11:30 lunch, just when it opens. If you go at this time it is easier to request a window seat, which makes the experience that much better. And absolutely split the bread service. After your meal, head over to Jambo House and hang out until it is time to head to MCO.

I second The Wave. We had a late flight home on our trip last month. We spent the morning at MK, then walked to The Contemporary about 1:00 and had a late lunch at The Wave. It was perfect because they have sandwiches on the lunch menu which was perfect for a filling lunch, but not something too heavy.

I agree with the PP"s on the Wave and Sanaa suggestions (I really like the Wave, but for atmosphere, Sanaa would get my top vote here! If you do end up at AKL, make sure to stop at Jambo House to see the savannah off the back of the lobby). I would also suggest GF Cafe. The food is very good and I find GF to be very relaxing.

I think you meant DME now has a 4 hour lead time.

DME has a 4 hour lead time based on requests from the MCO Authorities. DME did not suddenly come up on this idea on their own. They were asked to do it.

If it is on a Saturday or Sunday, I would suggest brunch at Raglan Road. The entertainment (band/dancers) starts at noon on Saturdays and Sundays.

If that last day happens to be a Sunday, go for the Brunch at California Grill. About as relaxed and pampered as you can get with stunning views, impeccable service and wonderful food (all at a high cost, of course). It would be a very nice way to end a vacation.

Of not a Sunday, I'd opt for Olivia's over at OKW. Good food, relaxing atmosphere.

Personally (and I know I'm in the minority), I dislike Sanaa - a lot. But then our experience there included food poisoning for half of our party, so I realize I'm biased. :o

Coming back to this late, but I just got internet restored after a lengthy outage.

When I had lunch at The Wave, I had their "Soup, Salad, Sandwich" - a cup of soup of the day (chicken and wild rice that day), a "petite" Harvest Salad, and a little "Turkey Club Sandwich" made on a small wheat roll. Perfect for lunch!

Glad you all had a great lunch. We thought it was a perfect place for lunch after a morning at MK.
