We will be going to Disney in less than 2 weeks and I made my ADRs at 180 days out after discovering the DIS boards. Now I am hoping you can tell me what is good, or in some cases, not so good at Le Cellier, Coral Reef, and San Angel Inn. Please include appetizers and dessert as we will be on the dining plan.

I realize that everyone has different tastes, but I would just llike to get an idea as to what the more popular items are!

Never been to San Angel and it has been a long time since I've been to Coral Reef, but we go to LeCellier every trip.

Our favorites:
Appetizer: Duck two ways or Mussels - both are excellent, but I think the duck has a slight edge over the mussels

Entree: Mushroom filet without question. I dream about that risotto.

Dessert: This menu seems to change fairly frequently, but we have had and enjoyed the creme brulee, the chocolate "moose", and the cherry? shortcake

Oh, I just love talking about food! ;) Can you tell?
This is from our Dining Review of Le Cellier

APPETIZERS: The breads came out first. The adults thought they were ok-would have been much better warm-yet the kids couldn’t get enough! The kids ordered the cheese soup yet neither liked it. It was passed onto me-I thought it was ok. Yet the breads dipped in the cheese soup? Now that was yummy! My DSG said the Caesar Salad was very fresh with a perfect Caesar dressing. My DH and DS18 both ordered the Grilled Beef Tenderloin Kabobs which were served with roasted veggies, orzo salad & a smoked tomato coulis (puree) Melt in your mouth tender & absolutely delicious! The rest of the adults ordered the Prince Edward Island Mussels-all agreed they were out of this world! Tender mussels prepared perfectly with applewood bacon, potatoes & baby onions in a light sauce, what they call “chowder style.” Absolutely scrumptious.

ENTREES: My DGD5 ordered the 6 oz. grilled steak which came with corn. She said it was “yummy” yet I wish it had come with a potato or rice dish. My DS9, not really happy with the kid’s menus, ordered the hotdog & fries. How much can I say about a hotdog?! Yet they were both happy. 5 of the adults ordered the 14 oz. New York Strip Steak. So tender and melt in your mouth. I should have learned by now that what is medium-rare in NE is not medium-rare in Disney. So it no ones fault but my own for not ordering medium. My DH remembered-and his was cooked perfectly. This entrée came with sautéed leeks & frisee which were tender & sweet and roasted Yukon potatoes which were buttery and yummy! The veal Demi-glace was the perfect touch to make this an excellent entrée. The other entee ordered by an adult was the sauteed shrimp with oven-dried tomatoes, applewood bacon & fresh arugula tossed with linguine in a cheddar cream sauce. Very fresh with perfectly sautéed jumbo shrimp.

DESSERTS: The Crème Brulee Sampler was one maple with cinnamon whipped cream and one vanilla bean with vanilla whipped cream, both with caramelized maple sugar. DH and I both thought the vanilla crème brulee was heavenly while the maple crème brulee was just a tad too sweet for our taste, yet prepared perfectly. The flavors of the day for the house-made Duo of Sorbet were cherry & mango. They were sweet, smooth & delicious. The chocolate on chocolate whiskey cake was fabulous. I questioned the combo of chocolate, whiskey & tarragon yet it was a perfect combination of light chocolate cake with just a hint of Canadian whiskey, not overpowering at all, layered with chocolate mousse and served with a Tarragon Anglaise (custard sauce) YUM! The kids (and one adult!) ordered the Campfire S’Mores. That was a very creative and fun dessert that brought lots of smiles.

We just went to San Angel Inn in May...it was okay...my least favorite of our 7 meals I am sorry to say. First, they serve Tostitos bagged chips (the small round ones)....big disappointment! I did not even try them so I have no idea what kind of salsa they serve...I am assuming maybe the same. My daughter had the nachos (on the starter menu)...they would have been good if they were on homemade style chips (sorry, I had to at least taste them)...again, they were on Tostitos! The toppings were all good, but the chips made them just okay. I had the Camarones con Fideos...it was pretty good...kind of like a spaghetti with a Mexican sauce and grilled shrimp...not bad. My other daughter had the Pollo a las Rajas...I did not try it, but she said it was pretty good. My Husband had the Pollo a las Rajas...he said it was really good, again, I did not try it though. We were there celebrating a combination birthday for our three children (can't afford to make 3 trips a year:confused: )so we ordered a small cake...it was actually really good! I was kind of disappointed, as I said earlier, because I had been looking forward to this meal since our last visit in 2003...we did not do many TS meals that trip and I had promised myself that I would make an ADR for the next trip at San Angel....I am glad that we tried it, but I will not be going back....I think LeCellier is in line for our next trip...it was booked this trip since we decided to go 2 1/2 weeks prior to the actual trip!!!

You really need to look at the menus and order what looks good to you. I have seen plenty of bad reviews of food that I really liked. And vice versa. Taste is very personal. For instance, I HATED everything that I had at Marrakesh. But lots of people love it.

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

We did Le Cellier in December for lunch and DH and I are kinda foodies. We met working in a fine dining restaurant years ago.

DH got the beef/barley soup (I assure you duck 2 ways was not yet available. I would definitely try this if it is still there.)

I had the mussels; there was not much flavor, but not terrible.

I had the filet mignon, DH had the NY stripsteak. We both liked the strip better all around.

He had the creme brulee sampler and I had the chocolate whisky cake. I didn't feel the cake was all that special, but we loved the creme brulee.

I had Coral Reef so long ago that I can't comment. We are giving it a try again in September, though!

I really remember liking San Angel Inn when I went, but I was pretty young here as well. For all I remember, I had nachos. I loved the atmosphere but I have heard mixed reviews on the food itself. I haven't yet planned to go back here.

Hope you have so much fun!

1) Don't eat fresh fish on Sunday or Monday !!!

2) Le Cellier,
. . . stay mainly wit steaks and cheese soup
. . . they are well above average
. . . others, including seafood is average or less
3) Coral Reef
. . . frozen seafood is good all week
. . . fresh seafood should not be eaten on Sunday or Monday
4) San Angel
. . . most of the food is Americanized-Mexican
. . . the food does taste good and is well served
. . . the molé is about average

Coral Reef: The lobster soup is great. The crab salad as an entree at lunch was small. The mahi-mahi is o.k. My dh had the blackened catfish. I had the vegetarian entree once - dont get it if its the vegetable strudel. One teen ds had the steak and said it was great. For dessert the chocolate wave and the citrus creme brule were both good.
