I am a newly certified sub for the local school district. Usually I've been getting assignment a day/two days/even a weeks notice.

Last night, I got a phone call from BIL asking me if I was willing to drive my FIL to a doctors appt. I said since I didn't get a call yet for the day, I was willing to do it.

Well, this am, bright and early, the sub lady calls (I've never gotten an early am call before) and I told her that I had to take a relative to the doctors and couldn't do the assignment. I've heard that this sub lady gets a little vengeful if you refuse an assignment and won't call you for a few days.

Should I give her a quick call on her voicemail and apologize and tell her that I am available tomorrow? I've been working as a sub non stop since the 21st in various schools in the district and I'd hate to lose the income.

Thanks

I don't think you are obligated to, but it never hurts to be extra nice to the lady handing out the assignments.

Thanks! I was worried that I would sound like an idiot.
