Computer repair guy in the home. Tip or no tip? Computer under Dell warranty but paid a fee for in home service.

I would say no.

When we had a computer repair guy in I did offer him water/tea. He was hear for a couple of hours though.

NO!

I don't know anyone that tips the mechanic to fix their car so I wouldn't expect to tip someone to repair my computer.

I guess I'm the odd one out. I would tip, especially if he was quick and got the job done right. $10.00

Oh and my husband was a mechanic and got tips many times.

He's probably being paid by the job and not the hour just like a mechanic. My DH used to get a gift or two around the holidays from a few customers but that hasn't happened in a long time. He works at a higher end dealer. They had a few customers that would by lunch or bring a fruit basket, bottle of wine... but again, it's been years since that's happened. Now they complain about the cost and try to get the service writer to knock some time off that ends up coming right out of the mechanic's pocket.

We owned the station for 50 years, family business. Our mechanics were paid a salary. Lots of gifts and lunches and gift certificates near holidays especially wine/liquor. Our vodka supply is dwindling.

Oh thats so wrong!:sad2: It sure isn't what it used to be. We own the land and ended up leasing the property to Hess. Best thing we ever did!

I tend to tip people in the service industry due to my husbands old position and I was a bartender in a night club. Many moons ago - but you never forget how hard people work. It makes me happy to tip.

Thanks so much for the quick answers! I didn't tip him. I agree with WVJules, though. This tipping thing gets out of hand. I'll read things where people are tipping workers for things I never even considered.

Agreed! :thumbsup2
