Hi
We have booked to go to Orlando in October/November - I know, I know busy DVC time but it's school holidays here in England. We only just got our 250 BCV resale points last month. We were at Disney when we got into the Disney system but I booked one of their bounceback discounts to stay at the Poly again in Oct. We love love love a theme park view room there. :) I only boooked to stay there for 9 nights so I have another 5 nights to book to stay somewhere else.

So, I haven't phoned up MS yet but there is almost zero chance that we would get BCV or BWV and I am presuming very little chance we will get anything for the full 5 nights

SO what would you do? Just do a cash reservation and use points next year or waitlist for more than one resort because a 5 day waitlist is not likely to come through, is it?

I suppose I may just get SSR or OKW but they are our least fave resorts.

What about the THVs - is there even the slightest chance we may get a couple of nights there?

Thanks for your advice.

I'm no professional, but our waitlist came though in June at BCV...and possibly it is a busy time for England, but here most of the kids are in school...so not busy time for travel..although it is the food and wine festival, but aside from epcot DVC's I can't imagine it would be that hard to get a room. what don't you try and see what you can get now?

It's going to be very hard to get Oct/Nov this late. You won't get BWV or BCV now - that's F&W Festival and it's hard to get at 7 months out.

There are probably only 30 or so THV available for points stays and I'd bet they are all booked. You might get lucky and get a night or two, but not several in a row.

I have gotten both a studio and a 1 br at BCV for food and wine two years in a row. I call the minute they open at the 7 month window. I have yet to have a problem.

What is the cancellation policy these days for a cash reservation? I would book cash and waitlist for a points room then cancel the waitlist if it does not come through before cancellation penalty applies. You also need to think about your banking window.
Odds are not in your favor but you can keep calling and maybe get a day or two at a time until you have 5 in a row. Just remember your banking deadline and the 31 day deadline to cancel any points days you have if you end up with only a few. Good luck!

Thanks for your ideas. I am very confused about banking - will they explain it to me if I call them at MS? I seem to have 250+ 30 points for 2012 UY - is this because previous owner banked those 30?

Yes, MS will explain when your banking window is. It is based on your use year month. You can bank points up until 4 months before they expire (they expire 1 year after they are credited to your account). If you have banked points those cannot be banked again and will need to be used first for your reservation. MS will help you with all of this. Good luck!
