This is my first post on the DIS (I've been lurking for a long time) and I really wish my first post could be about something happier, but we need as many prayers as we can get right now and I know you guys here will help.
My daughters boyfriend, who is 19, has Duchenne muscular dystrophy. He has really been doing remarkably well compared to other people his age with the same condition - Even though he is wheelchair bound most of the time, he CAN still walk short distances and move around a little himself - Which is pretty much unheard of for someone in their late teens with DMD! However, lately he's been having pretty serious problems with other things, his lungs in paticular are causing a lot of problems and he's really not been well.
He is really the sweetest boy you could wish to meet, and he is EVERYTHING to my daughter. It is really hard to see him go through this.
Well, I heard today that he is in the hospital with a very serious chest infection, and, to be blunt...Things are not looking good. The doctors are saying that there is a good chance he may not recover.
My daughter is devestated and I can't even begin to imagine pain his parents are going through. We all knew that he would most likely leave us far too young, but we didn't expect it so soon and none of us feel ready to deal with this...But I guess we never will.
I would be so grateful if you could help us pray for a miracle, pray that he will recover fully and live for many more years like he deserves too. And also, pray for his parents and all his family and my daughter as they go through this horrid time. It's all so heartbreaking for all of us.
