Thanks to all who reads and replies. We have a young man who came to work with us (small family owned organization) back in July. When he signed on he waived all insurances. He is an avid biker and even rides his bike to work. We have never seen him without a helmet on and saturday he was riding his bike in the town on a sidewalk. According to eye witnesses he fell and hit his head and for some unknown reason he was not wearing his helmet at the time. He now lies in ICU sometimes able to breathe unassisted and sometimes not. He has opened his eyes a few times but the doctors do not know the level of affect this has had on his brain. Please pray for him and his family who has come from Iowa to be with thier son. Any prayers and wishes of PD would sure be encouraging. I have only known him for a month and he has been a super sweet guy. Thanks all for listening.

PS I hope this encourages anyone who has bike riding children to make sure they are wearing helmets. Thanks again.

What a terrible thing to happen to someone :( I will keep him and his family in my prayers.

I hope that he recovers well and that the doctor will have some good news for his family. Prayers and PD are headed his way.

 I'll think good thoughts for him & his family.

 So sad. :(

And I agree, children (and adults too, IMO) should always wear helmets when riding. When I was 17 I was skateboarding and I fell and ended up getting hit by a car. I did not have a helmet on (wanted to look "cool" ). I was VERY lucky that the damage was not as bad as the police/paramedics and doctors all said it should have been. I could have been killed. I ended up with just a few broken bones and sprains. My left foot is a mess and there is no way I could ever skateboard, rollerblade or do anything like that again . :(

I'm lucky I can walk.

That is so sad. I'll keep him and his family in my thoughts and prayers

He is in my prayers. So sad indeed. I hope he pulls through okay. Strength for the family as well.

Prayers being said.

Thanks for the reminder to wear our helmets.
