DW and I have two DS (11 and 9) that she and her ex adopted from Guatemala shortly after birth (they are actually biological siblings). We decided to take them to Guatemala this summer to see their birthland and while we were there, we visted the children's home that placed them with DW. We have been very blessed with our two sons and they mean the world to us. While we were at the children's home, we met an amazing and wonderful young man who touched our hearts in a way that we never thought possible. To make a long story short, we decided to adopt him and are in the process now. We've done everything we can on our end and are now waiting for word from Guatemala - first to Family Court and then to PNG (a higher court authority). We've been so blessed so far in this process - we just need a few prayers and some PD for the waiting game.

It all started as "a God thing" as DW likes to call it - we just feel that we were in the right place at the right time and he has blessed us with an opportunity to adopt another son. We know it takes time and it will happen according to His plan...but a little extra prayer and PD wouldn't hurt.

We are hopeful that he will be here in time to join us for our first Christmas trip to WDW in mid-December. He apparently is quite a Winnie the Pooh and Tigger fan and we have booked PS for Crystal Palace just in case he makes it in time....

Thanks for listening and thanks for your support....

Mark

UPDATE - 10/9
Well....still no word on family court. We had hoped to hear something this week but we didn't. We're still in family court as far as we know and are waiting to hear that we have cleared that and are on our way to the solicitor general's office. DW has her heart set on him being home before Christmas...we just don't know if that will happen.

We attended a fundraiser for the childrens home a week ago and the director was there from Guatemala. He told us then that the chances of him coming home before Christmas were slim. I thought "He obviously underestimates the power of prayers and pixie dust."

We are still pulling for him to be here in time for our MVMCP trip Dec 15-20...I know that's rather ambitious, especially in light of what were were told but I just have to believe that it can be done. DW asked what happens if he's not here in time for the trip - I told her that would be the perfect reason for another trip once school is done!

Please continue to remember us in your prayers and feel free to send PD...thank you so much!

UPDATE 10/21
We received word on Monday that the US Visa pre-approval had been granted by the US Embassy in Guatemala and found out last night that the case was cleared by family court on Tuesday. It's being double-checked by attorneys now and will then go to PGN - kind of like the Guatemalan Attorney General - for final approval. We're hoping we clear PGN within the next two to three weeks and will hopefully then be travelling to Guatemala to bring him home!!! Keep up the prayers and PD - they're working!!!

UPDATE 11/6
We found out Thursday that we entered PGN on 10/21 - this past Thursday (11/4) was two weeks. We've heard that it has been taking two to three weeks now. With any luck, that means that we're in the final week and we should hear something this week. Prayers and PD still needed - we need to get him home so we can go to WDW for Christmas! We're praying that we get word this week which would mean we would be traveling the week after Thanksgiving most likely. That would put us home in plenty of time for our MVMCP trip....keep your fingers crossed!

UPDATE 11/29
We're still caught in the court system...we were kicked out on Nov 8 and re-submitted on Nov 9 (kicked out due to a misunderstanding of the abandonment decree) and now it's three weeks later and we haven't heard anything more. We could still travel and have him home for Christmas although at this point I don't think we'd be able to get him home for the MVMCP trip. We're still on pins and needles about the trip and may have to re-schedule the trip if we wind up traveling to Guatemala during that time frame (which would be fine with us if it meant getting him home for Christmas). I have never wished that we would have to re-schedule a WDW trip but I am now. We're cautiously optimistic...just an update and our thanks for your continued prayers and pixie dust!

Sending prayers and pixie dust your way. Good luck!

What a wonderful thing you are doing! Wishing you the best. :)

My boss recently adopted a little girl from Guatemala. :)

You both are very special people. I wish you much luck and loads of pixie dust!

Aww, absolutely! Dh and I just started the adoption process too. I'm about 3/4 through the mountain of paperwork! Good luck to you and let us know when you get to go get him!

You sound like a very special and blessed family::yes::

Sending lots of pixie dust and all our prayers to you and that special young man

Please let us know how everything goes. What a wonderful Christmas this will be for you all!

Good luck to you and your wife. Hope everything goes well and that lucky young man gets to come home to you in time for your Disney trip.

Good luck to you and your DW! May your dreams come true and in time for your newest addition to enjoy WDW! There couldn't be a better Christmas present.

As an adoptive Daddy ,, you have all the prayers and pixie dust i can send:) God will place children with thier "real" parents and sounds like this young man has found his:)

Lots of pixie dust headed your way! How very neat to be able to go back to visit Guatemala! DS is also recently adopted! Good luck and I am sure everything will work out with perfect timing! (Example ... our ds arrived 3 weeks early so he could be here on our 10th anniversary and also in time for me to have mother's day this year!) :) :) :) :)

:wizard: Good Luck. Hope it happens before Christmas.

Oh, what a wonderful story! I will pray that all the red tape will be cut quicker than ever so your son can come home very soon.

We are just beginning the process of adoption--I pray that we will find the child who is meant to be ours forever, just as you have! :)

What a wonderful story, Mark, my very best wishes for you and your wife in your goal to adopt again. That's great.

And ZachnElli and HappyMommy2, good wishes to you both also, from an adoptive dad here.

Thanks everyone! DW and I certainly appreciate your kind thoughts, prayers and PD! When we went to Guatemala, we had not really considered adopting again - two DSs keep us on our toes and busy and with both of us working as paramedic/ firefighters, life is pretty hectic as is. Then we met DS-to-be and soon discovered that there was something much larger at work...

To ZachnElli and HappyMommy2 - best wishes and lots of prayers and PD for you! It can be a long process, especially internationally. I am blessed with a wife who had been through this before and knew who to call, what to ask, etc. Of course, even that previous experience didn't bring patience with it - she's like an expectant father! We have truly been blessed with so much in this process - we made the decision to adopt on August 1 and now two months later we have submitted our dossier, received the assignment, and received our BCIS (formerly INS) approval to adopt. It's been a whirlwind in eight weeks and now it's up to the Good Lord and the Guatemalan Courts...Will update as info becomes available.

Thanks again to our DIS friends and family for all of your support, prayers and PD - keep 'em coming!!!

Mark

UPDATE - 09/29/04

DW rec'd word this morning that our adoption case was filed with Family Court in Guatemala last week! The normal time frame for that is about two weeks and then it goes on to PGN which could take anywhere from one to twelve weeks. With any luck, by this time next week, we'll clear Family Court and be on our way to PGN! Updates to follow...thanks again to everyone for the prayers and PD!

Good luck Mark! I also have two children who are adopted and I know what a special, exciting, emotional experience it can be. I hope everything goes well for you. How old is the child you are hoping to adopt?
