We have just decided to stay at POP for a week in March. We have heard because it is newer that it is a little nicer than the All Star resorts- is that true? Also, we are traveling with our 3 year old and 8 month old. Where would be the best place for us to stay at POP-location wise/ quiet during nap time- maybe away from the pool? Any suggestions would be appreciated! Do the busses also go to other resorts or just to and from POP. Thanks!

Look for this thread at the top of this forum, it's about the 3rd thread down

WDW Resort FAQ and Information Threads

We will be there in just under two weeks.

I'd suggest checking out this thread....

Groovy Pop Century Thread

It really helped me when we were looking for answers.

I have been to both the All Star Sports and POP and I actually prefer All Stars. I don't think it is any nicer just newer and bigger then life themes that I love about the Value Resorts.

We stayed in the 70's which was not close to the pool and was very quiet.

We just stayed at Pop in Dec., the 70's bldg was awesome and quiet. Its also only about 3 minutes to the food court. Enjoy!

We stayed at Pop in December 04. It was ok but I liked ASMo better. THe housekeeping wasn't very good. We had to ask several times for things we requested at check in, also it took 3 days to clean out the nightstand drawer. It had crud stuck in the bottom and used tissues in it. Oh, my friend had an ant problem in her room which took several calls to solve. The food court was ok, movies was a little better. We were in the 70's building 6 and it was quit and close to the bus stop and food court. The busses were ok too, waited a little but not much. Only 2 times we had to wait coming back from the parks. Don't get me wrong, we were still in Disney! :earboy2:

I stayed at Pop and ASSports in Dec '04 and I preferred Pop a little more. Both had their advantages and disadvantages.

Pop is newer
Pop has a larger TV (for those of us with troubled eyesight ;) )
Pop had a great foodcourt
You can get unlimted ICEE drinks in your refillable mug (you know frozen cokes and all that)
Pop has individual soaps and shampoos.
Pop has its own bus and doesn't have to share with the other All star resorts
I was in the 50's bldg, the bowling pin pool was behind our room and the walk wasn't far at all.

Now ASSports had a cutier theme (of course I am the only girl in the family so of course the boys liked this better)
It has powerade for one of their unlimited drinks
The TV is smaller
It has a dispenser for body wash and shampoo in the shower instead of individual bars

Now I haven't been to Movies or Music, just sports so I only have one to compare it to.

I like Pop better - the icons and signs bring back memories - old aren't I....

our room at Pop was in the 50's - I think the housekeeping is better in the 50's.

Now sometimes she (HK) didn't get there until 4:00pm - but she did an excellent job!!!

I have only stayed in Jazz in the All Stars.

I would request a room facing the lake. There's not quite as much foot traffic by those rooms and they tend to be a little quieter. We enjoyed Pop a lot and have been twice, with one more trip planned in one week. And this is from someone who started out with the deluxe resorts!

Just wanted to thank everone for all of the great POP info! We have always stayed at moderate resorts before so I was a little nervous about being disappointed with a value - but it sounds like it is great! Thanks to all of the great advice, I have already requested a non-smoking top floor room with a lake view!

Hi,just wanted to add to what everyone else has said. The Pop Century Resort is a great place to stay,we spent 5 days there when they first opened a year ago,and it was awesome........Very quiet, clean and enjoyable, and they have a wonderful giftshop, and a great food court!
You will love it!

I've read this before but haven't seen anything about it in a while. DD7 is really looking forward to it. I'd be curious to know what times they do it (I've read at 8 o'clock in the past - is that 8am, 8pm or both?) and can guests join in? Thanks so much for any info.

ETA: oops meant to start a new thread...

If you are looking for a quiet room location, request away from the pool, stays open till midnight and it can get really loud down there. Also, if you're little ones are light sleepers, you might want to bring some sort of white noise machine. I've seen them in travel mags. I usually just put on the bath fan to tune out the noise, but the fans in the POP are too quiet to do much. And they run on a timer of 25 minutes.Funny, the fans are quiet and the toilets sound like a jet engine.
