Going in June. Given that the number of non-smoking lagoon view rooms with balcony or patio has been drastically reduced due to close of Hawaii and addition of smoking rooms in Tahiti, would we be better off changing our reservation to a garden view room? Is there any way to ensure that we would get a patio or balcony with any reservation, garden or lagoon? Would hate to be stuck in a room with just a window:( Come on Poly experts, share your knowledge. This is going to be a once in a lifetime trip, won't be back at WDW for a number of years, and then DW says it's AKL.

You can request a patio or a balcony on your ressie when you talk to CRO . . you also might want to email Poly directly (or fax) a few days before your trip to ensure that you get your request.

When we stayed at Poly in 2000, I didn't realize that our 2nd floor room wouldn't have a balcony . . .it did have sliders that had a railing . . .so if you want a balcony I would request a 3rd floor room (I believe that the 3rd floors ALL had balconies). Some also have 2nd floor balconies . . .we were in Tuvalu and the 2nd floor did not . . .

I've always had good luck in getting what I requested . . lagoon view, no obstructions . . .just that one time I forgot balcony . . .

If your heart is set on a room with a balcony I would request one.

We just returned from the Poly, our first stay there. I did not request a room and we got Rarotonga 2nd floor 2805. A beautiful room over looking the quite pool. No we did not have a balcony but with such beautiful grounds I would never sit in the room.

I'm a very early riser, wake up around 5 a.m. I would take my shower, get dressed and let everyone sleep. A quick stop at Captain Cooks for a Cappuccino (coffee is un-drinkable) and walk these beautiful grounds. Sometimes sitting on the beach watching the Castle change colors, sometimes sitting at the pool, or sometimes sitting at the motor launch dock.

This is a beautiful resort and to walk around it in the early morning light, while most of Disney was asleep was one of the highlights of my trip. I fell in love with the Poly and can't image staying anywhere else. I know I will not always be able to stay at this resort, but my heart will always be there.

Rumor lately states that your 1st request is your #1 request so list that 1st!

Then, do not get that upset, I felt the same way, I need a balcony and last year got the dreaded no balcony! However the door slides open also and you can put your chairs there next to it, leave it open etc... just the same. It really did not ruin my trip, just work with it a little and it was ok. especially if you get a good view. (we had quiet pool).

Good luck, MKY :D

If you stay in Tahiti you will have either a patio or a balcony on all floors.
