DH came home on Saturday night and told me that as of tomorrow, he might not have a job anymore. Apparently, his company has decided that three supervisory positions (one of them his) are going to be eliminated entirely. Two of the supervisors whose positions are getting eliminated will be kept on at current rate of pay in a full time position. The other one will be..well, as The Donald says it, "You're fired!".:( DH has to go in for a short period tomorrow after my dr's appt to talk to his boss and see whether or not he's still got a job.

I'm hoping that his boss (who also just had a kiddo of his own) takes into account that we're about to have a child and so we need his job to survive. I also hope he takes into account that DH has been with this company for nearly 9 years now and is extremely loyal to his company. He's worked his way up from Cust Svc to Supervisor over the years and worked in nearly every dept, so he has a vast amount of company knowledge and is great with customers. Prior to transferring to his current store, he was a Sup at another nearby store in the same district and completely turned his dept around, going from last in the district to first. DH is friendly with several key members of the district staff who would be upset to lose him I'm sure, so I'm hoping they press for his boss to keep him around as well.

I'm trying not to worry about this and DH seems rather confident he'll keep his job but I don't know what his boss has decided and we won't know until tomorrow afternoon. Soo...in that light..I guess I really need the P&PD and I'll let ya'll know tomorrow or Thurs whether or not DH got to keep his job.

Thanks in advance, ya'll. :)

Hugs to you and prayers for your DH. As a victim of corporate downsizing, I can definitely relate to the pure panic that you both are feeling right now.

Good thoughts and prayers that all will go well for your DH! {{{{HUGS}}}}

Thanks guys...:) Ya'll rock. I'm hoping DH comes home tomorrow with good news. Corporate downsizing SUCKS big donkey butt.

Pixie dust and a special prayer is headed your way.
There are so many people losing their jobs these days it's sad :(

Do hope things go well, TOV, for your hubby. You guys sure don't need these headaches now, or ever really. My best, and a prayer.

Dan

I'm hoping for the best for you.

Prayers have been said. We sure have been in your shoes and understand. Hang tight, and keep the faith. :D

Apparently this pixie dust is powerful stuff!:p

DH came home last night and said his boss had come to him and made him an offer. He's offering him the FT spot which means DH keeps his pay and his benefits, only losing his monthly bonus (which we can live without).:bounce: DH told his boss he'd have to talk to me about it and he would give his boss the decision today. I told him to take it, screw the bonus. I'd rather him have a job than worry about the bonus. The bonus is chump change compared to what he makes every month anyway.

The way DH explained it to me late last night was that the other two positions that are going away are really getting combined into one position, to which neither of the other two people who are IN those positions right now are being promoted. The other two people are getting severance packages, which while nice, is not a steady job. DH thinks the fact that we are about to have a baby and the fact that his boss has kids and his wife is in a high-risk pregnancy right now sort of tipped the scales in his favor. That and he's already trained for his position, meaning that if they fired him they'd have to spend time training a NEW person. It's far easier to keep the person who already knows the job than to train somebody who doesn't know the job, I guess. Or one would think so anyway.

So...on the company ladder, this is a smallish step backwards, but Dh could easily get promoted within 6 mos to a year to something better and make more money. At least he still has a job...for which I am EXTREMELY thankful.

Thanks ya'll for all the P and PD. I was SO worried about this and so was DH. He said he'd been distracted at work because of it lately and now he won't be because his job is still there. :)

Great news, TOV! I'm so glad your dh is still employed.

Fantastic news and thank God. There is nothing better than knowing the bills will be paid. :D
