DH was just advised by some co-workers that for our WDW trip in August we will need passports??

Anyone hear about this? Is this a new policy?

Supposedly not just DH and I, but both kids too?

We've always just shown our Drivers Licenses & been on our way.

Any information is appreciated! :wave2:

That'll be a sad day when you need a passport to go from NJ to FL...

Do your husband's co-workers like to pull pranks?

I work in the Travel Industry (Private Jet Travel to be specific).

They were trying to push for this to become effective Jan 06. It didn't go. They are going to likely try to push for it Jan 07. However, when it does go through, you can bet that there will be PLENTY of notice, so that everyone is aware of what is needed. They don't want to stop people from traveling, just make it safer.

You will be fine in August.

Thank you all sooo much! I was thinking that was pretty rediculous!

There was an article in our Sunday paper yesterday that said effective Dec. 31 you will need a passport for travel to Mexico & Canada by air or sea. By Dec. 31 of 2007 you will need a passport for travel to Mexico and Canada even by land.

At $100 each for me & DH and about $70 for DS we won't be buying them until they are MANDATORY, and I just don't see that for domestic travel.

My first though was "Do they know where WDW is?"

You should be just fine... we were from the other side of the country. They MAY be people who believe a federal id is better than a state id. My grandparents believe that - but I don't think showing a concealed weapons permit at the airport is a good idea.
