Hi,

We will be on a 4 night Disney Cruise in April- it is my understanding that adults need passports but young children just need a copy of their birth certificate. Is this correct? Do I need to order an extra original birth certificate for my son, or do I just need a notorized copy?
Thanks so much! :earseek:

All of you just need birth certificates with a raised seal. Passports (in my opinion) make travel easier, but not necessary for the cruise.

As previously said, adults don't "need" passports but I think they are much easier to handle. For a BC, it must be the official one issued by your state with raised seal or other official stamp. I don't think notorized copies will work. Be sure to verify with DCL.

No passports are needed. They can be used...but are not a must. If you choose to pass on the passports you do need an official birth Cert...not a copy or hospital record bc for everyone. Some people feel the passports are much easer...but it's really up to you. They cost a lot...so if your not a big traveler it's something to give some thought in...and you'll need the official BC first in order to get your passports.

You will need photo id to get on and off the ship at each port...but a drivers license would work just fine for that. I didn't want to carrie alot with me off the ship...and thought the Passports were a little to big to fit nicely in my little case...so a DL is what we used. No hassle or problem...the only time we even had to show our id was when we were getting on/off the ship...not once did we need it on shore. The BC would only need to be out when you check in at the terminal....other than that it can be locked up in your stateroom safe.

Thanks so much- we'll probably just stick with birth certificates then!
What does the purple ribbon with the halo stand for? That's probably a dumb question, but I've never seen it until the DisBoards!

9-11mommy, The question about the purple ribbon isn't dumb especially since the ribbon is, I think, unique to the boards. The short answer is that the ribbons are in memory of Amanda, Emma and Sophie Ritter, the daughter and granddaughters of Emmasgrammy, a disboard poster. They died as a result of a tragic fire earlier this year. Purple was Amanda's favorite color. She and Emma died at the time of the fire but little Sophie hung on for about 3 weeks while all of us prayed for and grieved with this family. One of the disfriends came up with the purple ribbon with the halo as a signal of our support for Emmasgrammy and her family during this tragic time. Many of us continue to keep it in our signatures as a reminder to cherish our loved ones and thank God for our daily blessings as well as to let Mike and Linda know that we remember if they should happen to read the boards.

You will be fine with original BCs and photo IDs. Your son will need the original as well. An extra original is for your piece of mind. Good luck and have a great cruise.

It all happened shortly after Emmasgrammy got to take Emma on the cruise with her. Linda was just so excited and had such a great time, she was great to post with and read all about her trip and the pictures she provided were precious. It is so tragic and we still say prayers for her and her family. I hope they are doing well.
