I believe Oct in FL is still 80's in the day and 70's in the morning & evening. My daughter is like DH, she gets really warm at times, while I am comfortable. I packed shorts, tshirts, and dresses for her. She will have a warmer jacket on when we fly to Orlando, but I'd like to pack her something lighter for the evenings. Should I pack a zipped sweatjacket for her in sweatshirt material, or a zipped sweatshirt in material that's just a little heavier than a tshirt, with long sleeves? Should I pack a few sweatshirts/long pants also, just to be on the safe side? We are going to be in FL for 2 weeks. Thanks!

I am taking DD1 in October as well. I am packing 14 shorts outfits 3 pants, 2 sweatshirts and a poncho. If I need anything else, I'll just buy it there. I am only going to be there 8 days, but i just think better safe then sorry. Just so you know..I have never been there in October..but at least you have another packing list to compare.

I'd pack one sweatshirt (probably a light-weight sweatshirt material), and a Nylon jacket, with a hood if you have it, that can do double duty as a rain jacket, or be layered over the sweatshirt in the highly unlikely, highly unusual event that we have a cold snap. You'll probably use both individually if at all, and it's more likely that if you do use both, it'll be because one got soiled! I'd also bring 1 pair of jeans/sweat pants, and 1 pair of long pants just because...And, don't forget a bathing suit!!!

I'm a pretty light packer for my boys now (and myself), unlike when I first started packing (we travel somewhere every month to six weeks on average...), and I have never run out of clean clothes for them yet. I pack shorts and shirts that show minimal dirt (striped shirts are SO forgiving), and that I can mix and match (in case something gets dirty, and bring one set per day, and one to travel in, and that's it (other then bathing suit, jackets and pants in this type of instance).

When my oldest DD was about 1.5 yrs old, we went to Disney in October - the weather was very nice. However, it was rather cool in the morning, and VERY COOL in the evening.

In the morning when we left the hotel, I'd have to put a jacket on her. (DH and I wore jeans and a shirt) Then, when it warmed up, I'd just put the jacket in the stroller. By early evening, it would be so cool that I'd have to put the jacket back on. (The parks closed early, so it wasn't that late in the evening, but it would be kind of cold!)

I would suggest at least bring one or two pairs of jeans or long pants for your child - just in case. (If you need more than that, you can always buy a cute Disney outfit there!!!) In 2000, we went to Disney in early December. On the day we went to Epcot for the Candlelight Processional, I told my teenage DD to be sure to bring her jacket, since it might get cold that night. Sure enough, she didn't, and as we were waiting for dinner that night, I had to go buy her a sweatshirt cause she was cold! And, by the time the Candlelight Processional started, it was really cold!! Now, I always tease her how I am always right!!! (I think she just wanted a new Disney sweatshirt - LOL!!)
