Need P & PD Please...

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers. He saw the oncologist today and was admitted to the hospital. He'll have a biopsy in the morning to see how bad the cancer has spread in his lungs, then surgery tomorrow afternoon to get rid of the testicular cancer. His DD is doing good, she knows that he's in the hospital and the doctors are helping him get better. She made a card for him & I sent it with DH when he went to visit.

just a thought for you and your BIL about his DD...is she is school? if so talk to her counselor or find out if there is someone to talk to at the hospital to help her deal with all of this in terms she can understand.
the unknown is probably very scary for her, not sure what you all have told her as of yet, but please make sure she is prepared, I know this from our experience when my DH was missing in Haiti, Megan is 4 years older, but I feel being honest with out too many of the detail included is always better.
I hope I'm not overstepping here but felt I needed to let you know some of what I did for Megan.

He had the testicular surgery yesterday, and they are doing a biopsy on the removed tissue to see what kind of cancer it is. MIL said it will be the same kind of cancer in the lungs, so no need for the lung biopsy too. Once he recovers from the surgery he'll be starting chemo. He has a very positive outlook, joking around with all the doctors and nurses all day.

Thanks for the advice mommy2mrb-I sent her teacher and counselor an email yesterday letting them know what's going on. She knows he's sick and in the hospital, but that's all we're telling her for now. He had his gall bladder out last year (she stayed with us then too) so she remembers when he was in the hospital for that. I told her it'll be kind of like that but he may be sick a little longer this time. If he feels up to it we may take her to see him this weekend.

You are very welcome....glad you talked to her school, that way if anything happens during the day with her they are aware and will be able to help her the right way.

Thanks so much everyone for keeping him in your thoughts & prayers-please continue to lift him up. Today he starts chemo. He has to go 15 days straight (first session is 7 1/2 hours), then he has 7 days off. He has 4 sessions of 15 on/7 off. He was able to go to church yesterday in a wheelchair so that lifted his spirits a lot. His DD went with him and I picked her up after church because he was totally wiped out. I'm taking dinner over there tonight-not sure how much he'll be able to eat but at least his GF won't have to worry about cooking for them.

Good luck to him, Anne. I know from my niece's experience that chemo is not great, but it's better than it used to be!

Thanks everyone! I talked to him last night-he has pneumonia again, but they gave him some good antibiotics and anti-nausea meds so he's feeling better.
