Have any of the mom's here used a sunshade on their strollers? I go to the parks alot, but don't want my DD to get sunburned!

I used a blanket to shield her from the sun the first couple of times we were at the parks, but yesterday she was not liking not being able to see out!

I saw some on the BRU website that look interesting, but just want some of your recommendations!

Thank you in advance!

I'm a Dad -- OK if I respond?

We live in a beach town with a boardwalk, so soon after our first child (now 5) was born, we began taking lots of sunny walks on the boardwalk. My wife, a pediatrician, was concerned about the amount of sun our son was getting exposed to. She came up with a great idea. She bought a bunch of fine white mesh and some Velcro strips. Using Velcro, she attached two pieces of the mesh, each on one side (with a very slight overlap right down the middle, kinda like curtains) from the canopy down to the footrest and seat. We could see him, he could see out, but it seriously limited (but didn't eliminate) his sun exposure. Worked pretty well for mosquitoes, too! Other good ideas are a hat with flaps, long sleeves and long pants, and lots of sunscreen (as long as the child is over 6 months old). HAVE FUN!

Babies R Us is selling one in stores, it's $6.99 and clips on, I bought two, one for each of our Maclarens. It's a simple black shade that can be folded up and out of the way also. I also bought a sun topper blanket to use as a boot type thing on the stroller and when she's in the baby bjorn.

We're all pastey white so I'm super anal about sun protection. :sunny:

We are just suncreening them and bringing a fitted cotton crib sheet to put around the stroller when the little ones nap (I have 2) - works like a charm, stays put, is cool and breathable. Love to see what others do too......

We have used the Kiddopotamus shade like this: BabyShade® adjustable stroller cover which has panels that can be added or removed and has a mesh screen underneath to help protect against bugs. It was great on our first two trips when we had warmer weather. DS napped great in the stroller all covered up and when he was awake I kept the front open so he could see out but left it draped on the sides which really helped protect him from the sun. Our last trip in January we unfortunatley had pretty cold weather so didn't have a need for it. I just used sunscreen which was enough. I also like the looks of this one RayShade®UV Protective Stroller Sun Shade which is similar to the Protect-a-bub sun shade I think.

TinkBoo&ElliesMum, what was the one you bought called? I couldn't find anything like that for a stroller on BRU's website for that price.

I went to BRU this morning and picked one up! Unfortunately, it doesn't fit on my Graco stroller, too fat of a frame, but it does fit on my "cheapie" baby trend stroller that I bought specifically for the parks!

I didn't want my graco to disappear! I spent tooooo long finding the Central Park print and ended up going to Tampa to buy it!

I am planning on hitting Sea World with DH tomorrow, and we'll see how it works out!

Thank you to everyone with your suggestions! I totally appreciate it!

I found the shade in the store itself on a little rack by the strollers, for $6.99 I felt it was worth a try! Hope there is a BRU near you!

We just used a clip on umbrella in addition to the stroller sunshade and a floppy hat. After 6mos sunscreen did the trick but if they had a sunscreen for the stroller like described I would probably have used one as long as my dd could see out and get enough ventilation (haven't seen the product).

For us, sunscreen, the stroller hood and and a clip on umbrella and clip on fan did the trick.

Keep in mind it's the legs arms and hands that get exposed so very lightweight, white or light colored long pants or sleepers work well.

It's Safety Firsty, Baby on Board. They're not on the website, but they have them in store. They had them at the one on 82nd near Clackamas a few weeks ago.
