Im a disneyworld vet but haven't been since Fastpass + so i feel like a rookie lol.

I need opinions on our AK day.

Were going to AK on August 16th ( a saturday)

Right now we have reservations for tusker house at 10:45 with the mind set of getting to the park at rope drop and getting as much as possible done without using Fastpass+. AK has always been a half day for us. I don't know if i will need Fastpasses or not I'm so confused. or if i should make my dining reservation earlier. the main things we do are kilamanjaro, everest, lion king and dinosaur. everything else we skip except maybe primeval whirl. in the past we've gotten on everest 5 times but i know that probably won't happen now.

heres what I'm thinking right now:
RD do Everest and Dinosaur
Kilamanjaro FP 9:30-10:30
breakfast at 10:45
FP lion king 12:30 show (assuming they still do the show on the :30 of every hour)
FP everest 1-2
leave

Were doing studios that night so Id rather use fast passes there but i don't think having any fast passes at AK is smart.

I was also thinking of making the reservation for breakfast earlier but I don't know what good that will do

Help!

Thanks in advance

I can't give you a response from experience yet. I'm going in a month and facing the same issue. I can tell you what we are doing though. I've decided not to do any FPs at AK and reserve them for later in the evening at another park. Doing RD will help and I think you'll still be able to get everything you want done, even with the ADR. You might miss one thing on the list but I would rather miss one ride at AK and be guaranteed 3 good rides at DHS later in the day, especially because even with other FPs available after the third the chances of getting the good stuff (TSMM and RnR) is slim. That's just me though.

When it comes to any Breakfast reservation I always book us for whenever is the earliest time that we can be there for. For us breakfast at 9/10 am is way too late.

Other than that your plan sounds great. If you are heading to HS after, save your FP+ for RocknRollercoaster and Tower of Terror

BUT don't forget after you have used your first 3 fastpasses, you are able to collect more.

I would be a little nervous that the "good" options at DHS will be out of FP's by the time you get there later in the afternoon. Would love to hear anyone else's actual experience in that. Would be very nice to know that you could probably hit what you want at DAK without FP (especially if going in at rope drop) and then stroll into DHS knowing there will be something to do without crazy-long standby lines.

From my own experience (which I realize could vary depending on day, time, etc.), I would be at DAK at rope drop, go straight to the safari, then EE a couple of times and then work my way on around to Dinosaur, breakfast, etc.

I will be using FP+ for the first time in July, so my own experience is also admittedly nonexistent beyond having already reserved some (now that I thought I had mastered the art of the old FP system!), but I still wonder whether it would ever be necessary to get a FP for either of the big shows (LK or FN) at DAK. We have never had a problem getting into a show....but does the FP guarantee you a better seat?

I was definitely a hater of the new FP system when first announced, but now that they are allowing it to be used to get more after the first 3 are used, as well as for hopping (sort of), I am slowly but surely coming around to the idea...mainly for your exact situation -- i.e., if I know I can hit one park hard at rope drop with short standby lines and reserve some FP's for good rides at another park later in the day (when, under the old system, they would have been long gone, or at least late into the evening, by mid-afternoon), I think I can get used to that idea. My ideal application of that approach would indeed be on a DAK/DHS or a MK/DHS day, and it looks like you have a few of those planned.
