Okay. I know that I am new to the boards but I am a longtime lurker and lifetime Disney fan. My family and I purchase annual passes every year and make the trip from Louisiana to DW at least 3 times a year. Now I don't know if this is the right place for this post, but I am totally conflicted.

The situation is this, myself, DH, DD4 & DS1 just got back from DW at the end of September. We are going again the week after Christmas as well. Now in the mean time, DD's friends from school are all going over Thanksgiving break and we had already decided not to go because of expenses, timing, etc. Now one of the moms has called me and said that so and so backed out and I can have their room which is completely paid for already. My dillemma is that I would really like to go just me and DD as a mother daughter trip and she can do rides/attractions with her friends. We have never done DW that way before. I am feeling like an awful mother for even considering leaving DS home with DH. I just really wanted a relaxing trip with no diaper bags, napping, etc.

Please give me your thoughts on whether this idea is ok or not. My husband is all for it and thinks DD would have a great time. Next problem is the expense. B/c this is sandwiched between two already scheduled and paid for trips, this would have to be a super budgeted trip. Realistically, without doing any character meals, how much do you think we could do DW on each day. Just the two of us. Rooms/tickets already covered.

Any help or experience with this would be greatly appreciated as I am totally conflicted inside about leaving my son at home.

I would go if at all possible. Your son is only one and I promise, he will not remember this trip. Your daughter will remember it and it is a wonderful opportunity to "make memories" with her.

I didn't see how the group in traveling? How much would that cost you?

A four year old could probably split meals with you and both of you have plenty. Breakfast could be something in the room.

I honestly think you could do it very economically. If your husband is for it I would go.

Take her alone now and take him alone later. :thumbsup2 It's a bonding experience that you might not get again later. I say go for it.

We are driving. There are no good airline specials running right now so really fuel would be the biggest expense. Thanks for your opinion. I don't know why this decision is eating at me so bad but I knew I could count of disers. You guys are always so honest with each other.:)

Hi my fellow Northshorer. When we go we make sandwiches and pack snacks to bring with us, so we don't spend much money. You could explain to your DD that since you will be going again shortly you will not be buying lots of toys and goodies on this trip and instead she can look around and decide what she wants to get on the next trip. You could probably live on $200-$300 depending on your dining options.

I am lucky that my daughter doesn't ask for many souvenirs. I guess because we go so often. 200-300 is doable.

You're welcome. My daughter is eighteen and a senior this year. We have made many trips just the two of us over the years. My husband has been to WDW but sadly doesn't love it like we do. Now that she is almost grown I treasure even more the times we shared together.
