New to scrapbooking--and I mean New; I have not yet done a page! Have bought lots of paper and supplies. Now I want to get some really good software for scrapbooking and for photo editing, but there are so many choices!

I turn to you, my esteemed Dis-scrapping friends, for your advice/opinions. What do you think is the best software for scrapbooking (especially for journaling) if I were to buy just one? I would be willing to spend more for a quality product. Also, which do you think is the best digital photo-editing software?

These questions may have been asked before, but I do not want to take the time right now to plod through pages of info here...I am getting a brand new computer later this week and want to run right out and get the scrapbooking software...am eager to get started with my new hobby!!

Thanks!!
Deb.

Are you going to be digi-scrapping or traditional? For journaling, I just use good old word usually. For photo editing I have Paint Shop Pro. I find it easier to use than Photoshop (which my DBF has). Photoshop Elements is also a really good one.

I use a software program called LifeTimez. it's out by topline creations (www.topline-creations.com). It's specifically used for scrapbooking. :)

They also will print up hardback or paperback book versions of your scrapbooks for a fee. I've done one and it came out awesome!

For journaling Microsoft Word or Microsoft Publisher work well.

For digital scrapbooking and photo editing I prefer Photoshop, though for newbies it is often pretty indimidating, but it can do some really cool stuff. Photoshop Elements is cheaper and can do pretty much everything that the other can. Paint Shop Pro is OK, I think its a bit easier to use than Photoshop. You can find 30 day trials for Photoshop Elements and Paint Shop Pro. I like trial versions because you can try out the program without spending any money, which is good incase you don't like the program.

Thanks all, for the replies!! Anyone else have suggestions on good software for scrapbooking? I have seen so many choices on the shelves at the stores; they all look good to me (but what do I know? pretty much nothin', lol!).

I think I have enough money saved to go out and buy my new pc today, yay! Want to get started scrapping; and first priority will be to making some nice pages from previous trips to WDW, of course!

I have a creative memories software which I got in my kit. There are coming out with a newer version that will let you print out the pages 12 x 12. It is suppose to come out in September. I like my memory manager which is great for sorting.

The majority digi scrappers use PSE (photoshop elements) or PS (photoshop)
