Need Opinions from Universal Experts!!!!!

preferred annual pass is about $179 for the first year.
renewal is $99 for the next year and each year after.

with the aph, you get free parking at UO, 20% discount on food and merch in the park, discounted tickets you can buy for friends...think it is a max of 6 per day for those, discounted rooms for on site universal hotels, discounts on special event hard tickets, etc.
no black out dates. valid year round

the premium pass cost more and you get a few more perks. think one is fotl for after 4 pm, one free hard ticket event/hhn.....etc.

the other ap is cheaper but has black out dates and is not valid for hotel discounts or parking. that one isn't worth it to me.

i go yearly and still save on the hotel, tickets, merch and food with it enough to cover the cost of the ap.

every few years, there are promos for buying ap.
last year for many months, people could buy the bealls ap promo.
you buy the ap for $179 and get 2 years on that ap for the price of one year. and, have the $99 option of renewal on year 3.
that is when i bought it.

i used to stay with the aaa discounts but decided when the bealls promo came up, i knew i would benefit greatly from it.

i had bought the promo of 2 parks for $85 for 5 days last year.
when i went to the park i traded up for the ap.

i was very close to buying the ap 4 years ago when a special came out but didn't. worse mistake i made. when bealls promo came out, i jumped on it.

even if you can not catch a "special" this year, you can renew your ap each year for $99.
you have to do the renewal 30 days prior to expiration or up to the day of expiration to get that $99 rate.
you do not have to do it in person for renewals

when i say discounts on tickets, i am talking about you buying tickets for friends or family for the day tickets at UO.

also, i buy the hard tickets at a discount with the ap.
i faithfully attend HHN and get the same discount as the floridian residents do for them. it is a good savings for me.

this is the "power pass" that has the blackout dates....

mac, did you let your old AP lapse and purchase the Bealls deal (cuz it was cheaper than renewing your old AP)???

just bein' nosy.....:flower3:

nope.........i always latched on to some promo special and got great deals in the past. have been doing universal since 1993.

i always used the mc promo and then the aaa discounts.
did not do the ap until last year because of the bealls special 2 year ap.

the ap has always been the best deal around but i was able to get the same or close to similar deals with the universal master card most of the times.

i won't let the ap i have now ever expire !!
the discounts are too good to pass up with them.

i can't think of any park that has a deal like UO has with their ap......

i let my disney ap expire.
it's like $453
when i had the disney ap, the rooms would sell out for the ap holders within half a day.......unless you went deluxe and spent a small fortune.
very few benefits with that ap.

i'm sticking with the mummy dust......

OK...So...it is your recommendation that I purchase the Annual Pass that has no blackouts....which is around $279.00...right? I'd have a greater chance of getting hotel discounts? Just pay more the first year...then after that...pay $99 each year to renew.....

What is the Beals Deal? I don't think I have heard of that....

We recommend you purchase the Preferred AP....$179 initially, $99 to renew.

(The Bealls deal was offered last year...Preferred AP for $179...altho, it was buy 1 year, get 1 free......no longer offered.....yet.....)

::yes::

Looks like many of the discounts are being reduced from 20% to 10% according to the new discount list on the website.

I guess that would make a difference as to buy an Annual Pass or not...if I already have AAA and the discounts have gone down to 20%?
