Need Opinions- Considering DVC

Our last vacation to Disney I stopped by a DVC booth and asked some questions, considering DVC purchase but never got around to actually going to an open house to follow up. Well- long story short, vacation was pretty much a disaster and DH swears he will not be going back for a while (it was pretty bad, but did have some fantastic points) anyway- I would still like to consider DVC but need to work on him a bit, but would it be better for me to wait until our next trip and visit an open house (to fully take advantage of the benefit) or have the info. mailed to me.

This is if you are looking to buy the current resort (AKV) through Disney. Other resorts can be bought cheaper on the resale market: Historically over time, DVC costs go up, so that is against you waiting. DVC is possibly looking to build a DVC sales center near NYC (like the current one near Chicago) and supposedly incentives at the sales center may be a little better, so waiting for that may be in your favor.
I do think you need to do this together, and I'd wait until DH has a good experience.

DVC is a wonderful thing if you travel to WDW at least every other year. I'm sorry to hear your last trip was less than magical! Unless there is an amazing incentive from Disney, you may want to check out the resales as they are generaly much less expensive. DH and I are getting add-on-itis and while we made our original purchase through Disney, we are considering resale for our add-ons. I just came back from my first trip home to SSR and it was amazing!

If you don't plan on going every year or at least every other year, I don't believe I'd buy into DVC especially if DH isn't a Disney person.

I guess I am left to wonder what was bad about your trip and if staying in a DVC villa would have helped? As members, we visit the parks much more relaxed, no need to hurry and rush through the crowds anymore. We go in the morning, then back to the villa to relax and go back to the parks at night. And when I say relax at the villa, it is just that. We get a 2BR so some can nap if they want, and others can snack and watch TV in the living room. It truly is a home away from home. When we are not relaxing, we will do non-park activities such as DTD, the pools, waterparks, etc.

The info they will mail to you is nice, but it really is superficial and just a commercial. Go ahead and request it, but also research here on this board and ask as many questions as you need.
