Please forgive me ahead of time if this turns into a "my resort is better than yours" debate. I do not want that to happen, so please refrain. Thanks in advance.

I am inviting some friends to join us next year at Thanksgiving. They have not been to WDW since 1991. I was going to book a 2-bedroom ot OKW, mostly to save on points. But then, I started thinking, maybe they would like to stay at BCV ( I have a contract at both) for the SAB and the close proximity to the boardwalk, and Epcot. So, I had almost decided that was where I would make the reservation, but then I got to thinking, what if they like the seclusion and quiet of OKW???

I am so confused. I asked her, and she would be happy with either. So, what would you suggest for a first-timer? I am leaning towards OKW, but then that SAB really stands out. She has a little girl who will be a month shy of turning 7 when we go. HELP????

I think either would be fine. Size-wise, OKW has bigger rooms for "spreading out" a little more, but BCV has a heck of a location and Stromalong Bay for the little one.

My only thought is maybe BCV would be better due to theme park and Boardwalk access....there is stuff close by to do in case you guys need a break from each other.

Hi,

I agree with Disney doll if your friend has a 7 year old you'll want to be close to the parks. You'll need to get to MK & you can get on the monorail @ Epcot for that. :) You'll only need the bus for AK. :)

Well, I'd have to go with BCV. I've stayed in 2 bedroom units at both BCV and OKW, and while OKW's 2 bdrm is much bigger, the location leaves much to be desired with a child. There's just so much to do within walking distance of BCV, and so many restaurants. You only need to bus to AK and MK, instead of to every park. Definitely BCV.

If you want a larger room then OKW. If you want to really impress your friends and be close to the parks, dining and a wonderful pool then BCV all the way!

a 7 year old will be interested in the MK - so I would make it at OKW - then try to get VWL at the 7th month time.

save the BCV for the summer, fall or a better time for swimming - you might be okay and then again you might not. weather can be pretty unpredictiable

even if you can't get VWL - I think the bus transportation is much better from OKW to the MK. I think that the BC buses also stop at the YC, BW, D/S too.

thanksgiving is a busy time so make the reservation as soon as possible.

I would chose BCV or BWV because of the proximity to the parks. If you have never stayed on property, it is quite a thrill to look out your window and see Spaceship Earth, or Tower of Terror.

We just took friends who had never stayed on property. We were at BWV in a Boardwalk room, and they just loved it. They thought the room was nice, but the convenience and location is what really impresed them.

Good luck with your decision.

I guess I'd say it depends on how much space you feel you need...how many total people will be in the room, etc.

An OKW 2br is much, much bigger than one at BCV.....but then again, as everyone has said, the location of BCV is great. Are the adults in your group of friends more the "like to be in the middle of the action" types or more laid back? I think the 7yo could appreciate either situation.

I'd probably save the points....but that's because we have a limited number of points and we actually took a 2br at BWV (Boardwalk view...) when I invited my parents....and you know, as much as we loved the room we had and didn't really need extra room I think my mom might have liked OKW better...and I could have saved the points! But, hey, we'll do that someday.

From someone else who owns at both, it has been my experience, that the bus service from OKW to the MK is better than the bus service from BCV to MK. Not a huge deal, but if your planning on going to MK everyday it might be a factor, anyway I thought I'd toss it out there for public comsumption.
Oh....by the way, we are still staying at BCV next summer instead of OKW just for SAB:D

Although it doesn't sound like you are considering VWL, my guess it that it would provide the biggest 'WOW' factor of any resort. While all of the resorts (DVC and other) are great, the grandeur of the Lodge is a tough act to follow, especially for realitively new comers.

Have fun!...

Actually, I hadn't thought past OKW and BCV because those are where I own, and I could take advantage of the 11 month window. But since reading this thread, maybe VWL might be another option, if I can get it at the 7 month window.
