Need Opinion on DME

Hi,

I know there is a similar thread already started but since my question is a little different I didn't want to take over that thread.

We are booked on a direct flight from Calgary to Orlando. I am 99.5% sure that we clear customs in Calgary which means we don't have to collect our bags we can let DME do that for us (please correct me if I am wrong).

Our flight lands at 7:30 pm, so my question is, since it is a later flight should we collect our luggage or should we let DME do that? I know it can take a few hours for the bags to be delivered to the room, but with us landing at 7:30 I am not sure how late the bags would be delivered.

I would love some opinions!

it could be midnight or later but if you pack what you need for morning in your carry on you can ask luggage services not to deliver it till morning

Personally I'd wait the extra 10-15 minutes and take the bags on the bus with me.. I don't know if they'd call or just come to your door at a later hour with your bags, but I'd sleep better knowing my vacation is off to a good start without worrying about my bags. (yes, bad experience with ME and I doubt I'll let them deliver my bags again)

When we used ME and had a late flight we had the option of them bringing our bags to us once they arrived at the resort or waiting until the next morning. For us, we didn't land at MCO until 9:30 pm so we didn't want to be disturbed potentially in the middle of the night so we packed our pjs in carry on and had our bags delivered in the am. We went straight to bed by the time we got checked in so we didn't need anything else but since you may need your bags it might be worth getting them yourselves.

Hi,
I did the same fight from calgary to Orlando with westjet this past december. We let DME pick up our bags.We put pj's in the carry on. It was great..We walked right off the flight and went directly to DME conter and got on the bus.Our luggage was delivered to our resort about 11:00pm. Have a graet time

We arrived once around 7:30 PM and we had our luggage by 10:30 PM. We got to Pop around 9 PM and hit the swimming pool shortly after check in. We made sure we had taken a carry on with a change of clothes and our swimming stuff just in case. When we got back to our room all of our luggage was there waiting for us.

We've used DME 3 times and have always had a good experience. It is so nice to walk off the plane and not have to think about picking up our luggage.

Just today, DME has changed their policy on flights arriving after 10PM. If your flight arrives after this time you will have to claim your own luggage and take it to the bus. I read it here.

Starting March 30, 2009, Luggage service will no longer be available for arrivals to Orlando International Airport after 10 PM. You will need to take your luggage to the Welcome Center for Disney's Magical Express. You and the luggage will be transported on the bus.

SaskDisNut is right. It is effective March 30 so no need to worry just yet.
