I have ressie for Oct but need a place to stay for my last night. I already have cash ressie at OKW but $270 for one night is really eating at me. Any recommendations? on or off property? Thanks.

Head over to Cocoa or Vero for a little sun, snooze, R&R. I spend so much time at WDW on vacation, I almost forget about the beauty and relaxation of a huge ocean.

Try one of the hotels on Hotel Boulevard. We have ressies for one night in November for 3 people at Lake Buena Vista Resort Hotel for $120.99. You can also try one of the Courtyard by Marriott. There is one on Hotel Boulevard and on International Drive. We just did a search for hotels in Orlando or Lake Buena Vista. That will give you several options.

There is a new group of Marriott properties at Little Lake Bryan which is just past Downtown Disney. They have been open less than 12 months. These look very nice. I have reserved 1 night before I go into a GV at OKW in July. I think if you look them up on the net, it will be called Marriott Village.

I was in the same situation as you, needed one night ( Saturday) before checking into BWV on Sunday after Thanksgiving. I bid on a 4star hotel in the WDW area on Priceline and got the Wyndham Palace for $50=tax.:p

I did the same as Bigcat and got the Wyndham for $40.....Its a beautiful hotel and we had a view of DTD. Of course with priceline you could also get the Swan, Dolphin, or Marriot Orlando World Center..but I've heard good things about all!

If you're an AP holder you could try for an AP rate at one of the WDW resorts. I have yet to stay at one I didn't like!

We also stayed at the Clarion Universal that's advertised on this site while visiting stuff outside WDW....nice place and worth a lot more than we paid with DIS discount code.

Plenty of options out there!

If you are looking for a nice reasonable place Try Summer Bay Resort, (Villas). It is a nice place newer and the 2 bedrooms sleep 6, 2 baths. We've also had good luck at the Comfort Suites Maingate East.

Bigcat and Lesley,

What happens if you don't like the hotel that priceline picks for you? ARe you still charged. We are staying at the Tradewinds on St. Pete's Beach for the weekend between our OKW and VWL stays. I was wondering if I could get a better deal? Thanks.

My friends have stayed at Caribe Royale and absolutley loved it. I believe it is on International Drive. I think they have a web site.

Yes you are. Priceline charges you when yout bid is accepted. If you want more info about Priceline and how to bid, check out Travel Sheryl's site: Informed Priceline Bidding Board

I've bid on Priceline many times and have not been disappointed. I too will be staying at the Wyndham Palace in July for a whopping $33 per night plus taxes and PL fee. That was with the old $20 AMEX bonus money which has since expired. There is still a $5 bonus available through the end of May.

For all you people who got into the Wyndham Palace through Priceline, how far in advance did you bid for a Friday or Saturday night stay? Thanks.

I bid my July Friday - Tuesday stay back in March, but that's because the $20 bonus was expiring.

How far in advance that you bid for a hotel is less important than the rates and availability for that hotel at the time that you bid. If the hotel is sold out for one of your nights when you check at the hotel's web site or www.travelweb.com you are unlikely to get in on Priceline. You also cannot chose the hotel you are bidding on, just a quality level.

Disney's Pop Century?

I know it's sscheduled to open late 2001, but a new resort is always fun to stay at.

If it's available, I'd go for it!

The "catch" with Priceline is that once they find you a room at your price you are charged for it.....you get what they find. That said, the only 4* properties in the WDW area are the WP, MOWC, Swan and Dolphin.....just really make sure you know what you're doing before you bid! The link given by Robinb is a good one. I was hoping for the Swan or Dolphin but was very pleased with the Wyndham. Email if you have more questions....

We stayed at an off property resort once (Holiday Inn Maingate) for our last night in order to save some money on the room and yet get to max out the benefit on our LOS passes (a tip I read on an old Prodigy Disney BB). My family was so disappointed in the quality of the room compared to the Dixie Landings room that we had, I vowed never to do it again. My suggestion is to try for one of the Disney moderate resorts like DXL or CBR. You won't be disappointed.

You may also want to check out Hotwire.com. I didn't feel like going through the whole bidding process since I am unfamiliar with it and only needed one night. At Hotwire you get to pick your area and see prices for different classes of hotels. I saw a 4-star for $61 a night and took it. It turned out to be the Wyndham Palace Resort. It was more than what some people are paying at Priceline, but for the $10 difference for one night, I'm not worried about it. It was very easy to do and you don't give your credit card in advance, only after you decide to take the deal. Good Luck! :pinkbounc

I agree w/ Paul. Try a moderate. But whatever you do, don't go to All Star anything. We did that for 2 nights, when our Dec. trip got delayed b/c o a blizzard. The All Star Sports was a nightmare for us. I cannot stress enought how miserable I was there. I have also stayed at the Caribe Royale on business. It was nice, but not Disney.

Check out the Swan or Dolphin. They have great location and service as well as location. also since they are run by Starwood they can offer some really nice discounts that Disney doesn't (they are deluxes but you can often get them for about the price of a moderate) . They offer a better AP rate than Disney actually as well as entertainment and Disney Club rates that are wonderful and special discounts for teachers, nurses and government employees. Check out Glo's FAQ on the resorts board. Hope this helps!

I think I saw AP rates for October are $189.00 Savannah view - call CRO.
Ask for Zebra trail- right of Arusha rock. You'll wake up on your last morning to critters a go-go! Have breakfast at BOMA - it's wonderful! What a nice way to end your trip!
