I just discovered this website a few days ago. Wish I'd found it a long time ago!! I'm a new DVC member who made my decision last May totally sight unseen. My home resort is BWV, but my first trip will be a one-week stay at OKW in April in a 1 BR unit. Can't wait!! I'm wondering if it's possible for me to call back MS and request anything about room location. We will have a car, and we don't mind walking or driving to whatever pool we want to go to. We would most like to have a great view for the parts of our week when we're hanging out on the patio. I heard that some rooms provide a pretty good view of Illuminations in the distance. Does anyone have anything to recommend? Thanks a million from a VERY excited new member!

I own at BWV, but our first trip was to OKW last May. We stayed in building 26, I had requested the 23 to 26 group. We thought it was a great location - we had a pond and golf course view (second floor). It was on the end closest to 25 so no traffic was within ear shot. Right near the Peninsular Road bus stop and easy walk to the Hospitality House. I requested that group again for our trip this May. We could have seen Illuminations from our porch, but there was a big palm tree in way. :( I would say to look at the map in your guidebook and see which area you like. Buildings 1 to 29 do not have the second entrance to the bathroom (through the laundry room). I picked the same buildings for our trip this coming May.

We stayed at BWV the first week of December and loved it there too! We like to stay there in December to be close to Epcot and all their Christmas activities. OKW is good for May because that is a more laid back trip.

Call Member Services and ask them to append your record under preferences to state, "We would most like to have a great view for the parts of our week when we're hanging out on the patio." Or ask for a third floor condo (as long as you don't mind stairs), and ask the type of view you want -- golf course, canal, or pond. I'm convinced that it's better to request a preference than to request a specific building. The building may or may not be available, and different parts of the same building can have completely different views and noise levels.

OKW is very well planned, and views tend to be nice all over the complex.

We've been all over OKW, and we've never had a "pretty good view of Illuminations." Yes, there have heen times when we could glimpse the higher fireworks from our balcony or front walk. But it's only a distant glimpse, not a good view. Again, the third floor would offer the best chance of such a glimpse, but please don't expect much.

The CM's at the front desks and the ones in MS are
always very helpful. They have told me they only
want us to be happy on our vacation. I think you
should call and add your request to your ressie,
and I'm sure they will do their best to fill it.
Anita.

You cancall and update your preferances with MS as often as you need. I have had to do this on a few occassions due to physical problems that come up. I called to request a first floor room close to the bus stop, rooms close to the pool, and a two bedrm. lock-off on the first floor just to name a few. Most of the time they are able to comply with requests. It is more difficult if you make these requests when you are checking in. Parking is very close to all of the buildings at OKW, it is more convienent that the other resorts for using a car. We always stay at Turtle Pond because the bus stop is close and the pool and snack area are within close walking distance to most of the buildings.
enjoy, OKW is relaxing and feels like home.

Thanks, everyone, for your replies. Your info was all helpful. I'll go ahead and call MS this week and see what they can do for me. This is all new to me, but I'm so glad to read so many posts that praise MS for being very helpful and accommodating.

OKW, here we come!
