First time considering staying off site, the rates are too high. We will be there 7/11 to 7/13 (Mon to Wed). Will we need Express Passes? We intend to concentrate on the kids rides mostly. No Mummy for us this time around. More like MIB, ET, Curious George, Barney, Woody Rollercoaster, Jimmy Neutron, Shrek, Animal Show @ USO. At IOA, only Seuss Landing and Storm Accelerators, Spiderman, Mystic Fountain, Sinbad Show, Jurassic Park Discovery Center @IOA. TIA :teeth:

I have been there several times in July and the parks are PACKED. If you get there very early and go like crazy, you can get things done before the big crowds arrive. It's VERY hot in July and we like to take our times. We go early, explore the parks at our leisure (using FOTL) and then take a break at the pool. The parks are open late in July and the crowds are there until closing.
I would get the express passes if it's not too big a budget strain. If not, get there early and get as many free express passes as you can.

Agree, July and the first two weeks of August are the most busy time of the coaster season. The only positive is that the park stays open until 10pm.
So you get there early in the morning, take a lap, then go back to your hotel to take a nap. Then you come back at 5pm as the tired are leaving.
11am to 4pm is rush hour when everyone shows up. If you are there early, you'll be one step ahead of these people for your first lap. But around noon, you'll be back at the front of the park, the sun will be hot, and the walkways will be crowded. That's when you get out of there and go take a rest.

Are the "express passes" y'all are referring to the ones that cost like $20-35, and let you jump the lines once per ride?

Yes, they're the ones. There are also free express passes available from the machines, but they tend to run out early during peak times.

Thanks gschmerl....
Trying to decide whether it would be better to get two express pass booklets, or spring for one night on-site.... sigh... if only the on-site price was less than $200 :)

But that one night on site will give you TWO days of FOTL--not just one ride on each attraction and not for just one day. Just think--two parks, FOTL for two days. That $200 for the hotel is cheaper than express passes for two people for two parks for those two days

Although remember FOTL maybe ltd to once per ride before 3pm and thereafter as much as u want although i must admit well worth it esp in july

Thanks for both replies. I do really want to stay on-site for one night and see both parks... I'll keep in mind the 3pm thing.
