My DD has just been accepted at Oxford University for the summer session. She will be flying in and out of Heathrow from the U.S. She must vacate Oxford on August 4th but her flight back to the U.S. is on the 5th, so she will need to stay at a hotel for one night. I checked the Hilton at the airport but that is running over $300 US per night. Since she is traveling alone, I would like to find a nice, safe hotel for her as near to the airport as possible. A shuttle to and from the airport would be a plus and I would like to stay under $200 a night. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Also, I found information on the internet on a bus that runs from Heathrow to Oxford. I am looking for more info as to the length of time from Heathrow to Oxford. Thanks again!

I went onto the Hilton website direct and a prepay package is £115 or about $218 at the moment for your dates.

Hilton.

You could also look at Superbreak they do airport hotels and some are working out at about £90/$171 a night, but then you have to add in the cost of the shuttle.

Thanks Claire. I'll try the Hilton site again. The best deal I could get last night was a pre-pay of $291.

Checked again and found a pre-pay price of $236 for just the room. Last week they offered a pre-pay price of $195 that included breakfast. I did not purchase that room at the time because we were still unsure if she would be accepted into the program.

Keep looking you never know they may do the special rate again.

Claire ;)

Don't book the Renaissance hotel in Bath Road - had a very bad experience there 2 years ago ie shoddy housekeeping/noise/expensive meals! Will be staying at Holiday Inn M4 in June so crossing fingers and hoping it's OK!

I have just stayed at the Crowne Plaza. That was fine and had an excellent shuttle service to the airport.

Thanks for the info. I had considered the Renaissance since they are usually nice hotels here in the States. I'll cross that one off the list.
