I have an 8-9 year old Dyson. Mid level model not an animal. It is pink and was offered during breast cancer awareness. Anyway we just moved into a home with frieze and another tall shaggy like carpet. The Dyson will not go on this carpet. I really need to find another vacuum that is under $200. I love the bag less canister and the attached telescoping arm on the dyson. Please suggest a new vacuum for me. I do have pets FYI

I am also looking for a new vacuum, and I think I am going to go with an Eureka. They are less than $120, and they are scientifically proven to suck better than a Dyson or at least that is what they say;) They have a pet version and nice attachments. I currently have the bare bones Eureka that cost around $50, and it works really well, but I would like more attachments. Before this Eureka I had a small $30 Eureka"The Boss" and it worked great as well.

I love my Eureka. It sucks better than any vacuum cleaner I've ever had. Consumer Reports routinely rates Eurekas better than Dysons on suction power.

I'd get new carpet. I will never buy another vacuum that isn't a Dyson. :)

Can anyone share a specific model? Which one do you have or like?

I have a Boss, which does have a bag, but I find I kind of like it better than a bagless (No stopping to clean out the collection container, no dust flying up when I pull out the collection container, no dust in my garbage. . .). Unfortunately, I think they stopped making it. I'm off to shower and put air in a tire before work, but I'll go on Consumer Reports today and let you know what they rank well.

Consumer Reports never rates Dyson vacuums very highly. Dyson has great marketing, not such great vacuums. You can get a much better vacuum for far less money. In their most recent recommendations for bagless uprights, the Hoover Windtunnel T-Series Rewing Bagless UH70110 at $130, was rated a best buy. Right below that vacuum was the Hoover model UH70120, same price, rated impressive for cleaning with superb pet hair pickup. No Dyson model made the recommended list.

Thank you.

I would suggest to a Sears Appliance Repair facility. They have all the makes and models they sell and there are significant discounts. We purchased a Kenmore Canister Model that sell in the store for $ 250.00 for $80.00. It was brand new in the box. They sell all major items at a significant discount.
