I am looking for new foundation that I can get in a place like Wal-mart. I have dry skin that seems extremely flaky right now. If you could also recommend a good facial cream that I can get at a place like Wal-Mart that would be great too. I am horrible at picking out make up. Thanks

I've been really happy with the Olay Regenerist line.

I'm not sure what kind of foundation I'm using at the moment but the key for me is finding a shade that matches my skin tone closest. I also add a little tinted moisturizer to my foundation before applying because I like a natural look.

If you're flaking, you need to exfoliate rather than add a more heavy moisturizer. Aveeno makes a nice, gentle scrub you can use 2-3 times per week. Neutrogena makes a gentle tinted moisturizer that has SPF which I've used and it's pretty good.

I agree that you should exfoliate a few times a week. :thumbsup2 I've been using Philosophy Microdelivery Exfoliating Wash for a while now and love it! It's a bit more expensive than drugstore brands but I splurge on some things.

I will tell you that I have very dry skin and I can flake terribly in the winter. I have spent a fortune on products and the ONLY think that ever removed the flakes was Vaseline. After you clean your face in the evening just apply it. It will be gross and gooey and yucky. Let it sit as long as you can and then tissue off the excess before you go to bed.

If need be, apply it for about 10 minutes in the morning and then wipe it off before your makeup goes on.

This 100% removes my flakes. Now, I do not have *any* oily areas on my skin so this might not be good if you have an oily T-zone.

As for foundation, I've never had much luck with drugstore brands and getting a good match or liking the way they feel on my skin. If I had to choose a drugstore brand, I would choose one that has put out a mineral powder line (L'Oreal, Physician's Formula, Sonia Kushiak). I know it sounds contrary to what you'd think for dry skin but it really does look better than having the liquid sink into your dry spots.

I would try Olay & buy at CVS if you have one by you because you can take stuff back. I use the Neutrogena tint in the summer but in the winter I like that new swirly one by Olay.

I love the L'Oreal True Match makeup. I have oily/dry/combination skin (thanks to pre-menopause!), and it works well for me all the time. I do tend to get "flaky" also on my forehead when it is cold outside, and I just try to exfoliate and put extra moisturizer there.

True Match offers so many different colors, and divides them into "warm", "cool", and "neutral", it was easy finding my color. I think it is really natural looking, but very finished looking also.

My cheeks get very "flaky" in the winter as well. My best advice is exfoliating with a wet, warm washcloth and a creamy face wash (I use Olay-- has witch hazel in it, so it acts as a toner, too). Then, apply a heavy cream-- Ponds is awesome; a "drugstore" brand that works twice as well as some of the stuff I've tried from Sephora. In the morning, I use Cetaphil with spf 15. It's a lighter lotion, but controls the flakes for the daytime.
As far as a foundation, I know this doesn't fit your Walmart criteria, but I order from elf.com. (Someone told me recently that you can get some of their stuff from Target) Their minerals line is AWESOME-- I've tried Bare Minerals, and this stuff works just as well. Plus if you google "elf.com coupons," you can usually get a great deal. I found a 75% off one once-- I bought the $20 kit for $5! It came with two brushes, a blush, powder concealer, and powder foundation. Shipping is a little high, but my girlfriends and I usually go in on it together. Take a look-- and as a PP said, it's true, flaky skin DOES look better with a mineral rather than a liquid.

Definitely sign up for their emails, too-- they're always offering great deals.

DD had problems with very flaky skin on her face. Her dermatologist recommended Cerave face wash and lotion and it has been amazing. Her skin looks so much better! She has very sensitive sking. I buy it at Walgreens. It's a little pricey, but it lasts for a long time.
