I got a letter today from the president of the college I am attending. They may be closing their doors. I am 2 classes away from graduation! I have been pursuing this career change for 2 years. It has been very tough, and now, it may have been for nothing. I'll have to transfer elsewhere and most colleges require you to get at least a year's worth of credits from them before you can graduate. It's a huge setback. The school is trying to secure a $1.5 million loan, but it doesn't look good. :(:(:(:(:(:(

I'm so sorry to hear that! Hopefully they'll get what they need so you can finish! I hope everything goes well! Good luck! :sunny:

Oh what a terrible thing - :grouphug: - I hope it works out and your college can stay open pixiedust:

I am so sorry you have to deal with this. I hope everything works out!

Wow. Being in school right now, I can understand. pixiedust: Much pixie dust for you!! I hope everything goes well. pixiedust:

:grouphug: Sorry to hear this concern. I hope it all turns out with a happy ending. :wizard:

I just graduated in August... so I know how it feels to be so close to the end... I hope they are able to secure the loan.. even if it means they only get one more graduating class out of the school. Sending lots of good thoughts, pixie dust and prayers your way!!! pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

I am so sorry to hear that. Is there any way to do your last 2 classes via Independant Study to get them done, *just in case* the school does close?

Here is some pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: that is all turns out OK!!!

I am so sorry that after all this hard work that they might close it down. Do not worry it will work out and I send you lots of pixie dust too! pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

I'll send some pixie dust your way! Don't lose hope, even if your school is unable to secure the loan, a lot of schools are understanding about situations like this and can bend the "year of credits" rule! It will all work out, one way or another!

Oh goodness! Hopefully it will work out in the end! And as sefny said, worse come to worse and they do close, ask around before you transfer all your credits elseewhere, as some school out there may be reasonable and 'bend' the year of credits requirement. Can't hurt to ask!

That's terrible! Here is a pile of pixie dust so that they keep those doors open so that you and many others can get that degree pixiedust: :tink: :grouphug:

The school is a small business college, and has been around for 150 years. This year, they underwent an audit. The building they are in was appraised at $2.5 million less than last time. This on the books looks really bad because the liabilities were not offset by enough assets to LOOK profitable on paper. As a result, the government withheld all of the financial aid money, and the school has been fighting for 6 months to get it. They survive on fees and tuition. They have been using their savings for the last 6 months and are almost depleted. If the government doesn't ok the funds by the 15th, the school will have to close because it will not be able to meet payroll. They're hoping to get the money by Friday, but the government is saying that they are a small school and not profitable enough to stay open:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

I feel for you, and I hope it gets better. Maybe they can work out a transfer resolution with another school in the area. Best of luck and keep us informed.

Guess what! Some congress people went to bat for our little college, and we got the money from the government. We're going to stay open at least one more semester. After that, they may merge with another small college, but it means I get to graduate!!!!!!!! I could not be any happier. Yay! Thanks for all the pixie dust! It worked! :cloud9:
