Hi everyone! We just found some great (cheap) fares for Ryan Air to London Stanstead (.01 Euro plus taxes) and now we need some information. How far is London Stanstead from London proper? We also found a hotel Comfort Inn Kings Cross for $692.00 for 5 nights and we are trying to find out if this is a good rate for one and how far from Stanstead it actually is. Any help you can give me is appreciated. The only catch is I need to know by Sunday so I can take advantage of the airfare. Thanks.

hiya
pm sent b4 i found this thread lol

OK hotel seems good location is fairly accessible to any of the sights you want to see.

Stanstead is as close to London as Gatwick and Heathrow. The only one closer would be City Airport.
We have used Stanstead and RyanAir many times with no probs.
There is a good rail link from the airport. Duinno how much a cab would b tho.

Hi,

Are you aware that Kings Cross is not a very nice area? It will be OK during the day but I would not go anywhere near there in the evening.

Also I think fom Stanstead you can get a train to Tottenham Hale and then on the tube,so can get around anywhere once on the tube.I hope someone can confirm/correct this

I know nothing about London, so I was not aware of this. Any hotel or area suggestions would be appreciated. I will have my 7yo with me so I would like a safe area to be in. Biggest concern is catching a 9am flight out of Stansted and getting there in enough time.

Thanks to you both.

I've heard good reviews of the hotels at County Hall near Waterloo station. There is a Travel Inn and a Marriott in different parts of the same building. I've not stayed there myself but it's very close to the London Eye and just accross the river from the Houses of Parliament.

I'm sure someone on these boards has stayed there, perhaps they can help.

I'm not sure how it compares in price to other hotels but I assume the Travel Inn is the cheaper of the two.

Here's a link that may help

Thank you. The Travel Inn at County Hall would be perfect, unfortuneately there is no availability for me during the time I will be there. What about the Tower Bridge location, is that a decent area?

Comfort Inns over here are the pits, I'm afraid:(

The Travel Inn at Waterloo is great, it's in a listed building too and there's so much within walking distance too:D

Good luck with the arrangements - the flight prices are unbelievable:eek:

What about Russel Square/British Museum/Bloomsbury area? We have a reservation for 95pounds a night. Great place we've stayed at for years.

Will check into it, thank you.

I am also looking into London Guards Hotel in Paddington/Hyde Park, Enterprise Hotel in Kensington, Travel Inn Tower Bridge and Victoria Inn near Waterloo.

Does anyone know in what area the Lyceum Theater is? We hope to see the Lion King and this is where it is.

Thanks again to each of you for your help, I greatly appreciate it.

Hi,

I'm born, bred and work in London so I've proabably got most bases covered and "been there, done that" over the years! - LOL

I've worked in Kings Cross and I can confirm that it's a dump IMHO.

The Lyceum is near Strand or Covent Garden - close to Charing Cross mainline railway station.

Here's a commercial link to attractions etc in London London Town.com

Fire away with any other questions etc.
