So I work with about 8 other ladies and they have decided it would be fun to do a gift exchange at our Christmas lunch - which is tomorrow!

My budget was carefully laid out this year so I need any and all suggestions for a cheap gift...should only be a couple of dollars apiece...I don't have time to do anything home made as we have plans tonight. I was thinking about running to Hobby Lobby and finding a nice ornament for each...plus they are on sale at 50% off...would that be a nice gesture?

Any ideas would be appreciated! :)

I know that you said nothing homemade, but this is super easy>>>

sugar, some type of non scented oil (almond oil, safflower oil, etc) and some type of essential oil. Just add oil to sugar until mixed completely, then I added just a bit more. The a few drops of the essential oil. I added peppermint and a few drops of red food coloring. A homemade sugar hand scrub.

I made these for my "extra" gifts and it only took about 10 minutes of time. I bought some plastic jars in teh canning section of Walmart (8 oz each) and that was it. Everyone I have given them to so far has loved them.

BTW
I do think that a nice ornament is a very thoughtful gift. Put your name and the year on the back as a reminder also.

I did small bags of candied almonds that I found at World Market..$3 each. Another lady did a two piece box of nice chocolates..I'm sure they were not much more than a couple dollars. Good luck!

Not sure if you have a Sephora nearby, but they have a nice 10-pack of lip glosses for $25. You could split up the box, tie a lip gloss to a candy cane and have a great, useful present!

I also think the ornaments would be very nice, especially if you could find one that you could write their names on.

How about those cute little candles they sell at Bath And Body Works. I think they are usually 2 for $5. I love those and they always smell great and last for a long time. They have some great Christmas scented ones for sale currently. Depending on your budget you could get one for each person or possibly two for each person. I am pretty sure BBW has some printable coupons floating around right now. Hand sanitizers from BBW are also another good one. You could get a sanitizer and a holder for less than $2.

My husband is a soccer coach for our daughter's team and we've provided transport for one of the girls for travel games. Her parents gave a very nice thoughtful gift to him- a jar with the dry ingredients for chocolate chip cookies. I've seen the jar at the dollar store but put together with a tag with directions and other ingredients needed (eggs, vanilla, butter) and topped with a small piece of holiday tissue- it was a nice presentation. Other than the jars and tissue- you might save money if you have the dry ingredients in your pantry.

I too like the ornament idea if that fits within your budget.

I did a winter/holiday hand towel and a handful of holiday kisses.

Towels - $2(although I think Target has them in $1 spot), kisses about 50 cents (bag was $3.00, I divided into 6 gifts), gift bags 50 cents (got plain red @ Target) and 1 pack of candy cane tissue paper (6 pieces for $1). Looks very cute for less than $3.25 each.

I have gotten mugs with candy, decorative soap dispensers, lotions, homemade cookies, etc.

I think a nice ornament would be fine.

I also thought of this:

You take a fuzzy sock and roll it up and put it in a cupcake liner. So cute and your coworkers would think you were so clever!!

I also thought of the "We whisk you a Merry KissMas" things. But I am not sure how much whisks would be.

Here are some printable tags for that.

WOW I LOOOVE these ideas! You ppl are far more creative than I am! I dont have a creative bone in my body. :(

Bath and Body Works antibacterial soaps! Our local store has clear cellophane bags, ribbon and tags for free to "wrap" them in. Our store was trying hard to get rid of the bags, when I bought about 15 things of soap, she gave me about 30 bags + ribbon +tags!

I didn't wrap them in tissue first - this way coworkers can exchange with each other for scents they like.

Right now the soaps are on sale, plus I had a $10 off $20 coupon. There's always coupons to be printed out. That would put you under $3 each.

Thanks for the ideas everyone...I have written them all down for future gifts.

I remembered we did some chocolate covered pretzel sticks (large pretzels) for DD's class last week so I'm going to use what is left..melt chocolate, cover pretzel and add sprinkles...only takes about 10 minutes. Easy Peasy!

But I do love the sugar scrub idea..going to try to make some after Christmas is over.

Thanks again everyone and Merry Christmas! :wave2:
