Hello folks, I need some suggestions or websites or even books that have fun kid friendly ( not too scary, but maybe a little) crafts and party ideas for a halloween party. We would like to have the party in mid october for our kids (DD7, DS6, and DD3) and some of their school friends, and I'm trying to start planning now. We are going to have a bonfire, and bob for apples, and have cider and powdered donuts, but beyond that, I'm pretty clueless on what to do. So does anyone know someplace to find all this great information? Please help, and thanks!

I've done many kid Halloween parties. My DD birthday is 10/23 so we did a combo party.

Craft Ideas - by blow pop suckers. Use white napkins and have the kids wrap the suckers to make "ghosts on a stick" with some yarn. It's fast but the kids get a treat to take home and have fun. You could do something similiar to pin the tale on the donkey like pin the mouth or eye ghost or pumpkin. I've done ghost stories where the kids create the story. You start them and each child adds a line or two. You could buy mini-pumpkins or ghords and give the kids decorations/markers to create their own masterpiece. I just found anything to keep their creative hands busy was a winner.

I've done a Halloween parade with the children. Just march around in your neighborhood or up and down the street. The kids loved it and so did the neighbors.

I have a wonderful idea for a dessert if you are interested. It's dirt pudding. Ever heard of it? I made a batch and put it in a black witch's caldren. It's just a pudding sort of contraption that you put in something and top off with crushed chocolate cookie crumbs to resemble dirt. Add some gummy worms crawling out. It sounds gross but fun. If you need the recipe, let me know.

I'll have to think a little longer. I'm sure I have more ideas. My daughter will be turning 17 so it's been a few years since I've done one.

Buy the cheap flashlights and let the kids decorate their own and then use them on halloween.

All kids love to decorate cookies.

Make pizza's with english muffins, pizza sauce, pepperoni's, licorice, cheese, etc. The kids can make faces, then eat them! You can zap them in microwave or place in toaster oven for a short time.

Get clear plastic "surgical" type gloves. Put a candy corn in the end of each finger, then fill with popcorn and tie.

Take a small prize. Then start wrapping around it with orange crepe paper. Every so often add a small piece of candy--tape it to it. You can add enough for one per kid or more as needed. Then play musical pumpkin. Whoever has the "pumpkin" when the music stops, unrolls til a piece of candy and then is out, getting to enjoy the candy of course! The last child--if you only do one piece per child--gets what is left and the prize. Or, if you do more than one per child, when everyone is out, they can all start over again. The kids do go out, but with a prize. (You can adapt this for any holiday.)

Play pin the ____ on the ghost, black cat, whatever.

Have a fun party!!!!!!!!!
