Hi there, well I am a novice scrapbooker trying to organize and create my kids autograph books but I can't even get started because I can't decide how to narrow down who or what to put in their books. i.e. DD wants the Princesses, the Faries, & the Fab 5. DS wants Toy Story characters, Star Wars, Fab 5, Phineas & Ferb, & Stitch did I mention they both want the pooh characters mainly Pooh & Tigger! I mean can you imagine how large &/or heavy that would be. :worship: I am in need of any strategies or tips to help me stream line some of this? I want to make their books but don't know how to start.:confused3

If you check out the DISign boards, they have pictures and ideas too.

The easiest way to be able to remove pages is to use loose 3 ring binder clips. You can make the books, punch 3 holes, then add the pages. Once signed they can be left in the room, so the book gets lighter as the trip goes on.

Another idea is to make books based on character meals. This can remove many pages also.

Finally, if you use a 4x6 photo book, you can slide the pages out and also keep it a light weight book.

I have done the spiral book for DD and the MNSSHP and it ok. In the end, we didn't get all of the characters we printed to sign. For her main book, I found a small 3 ring binder notebook, about 5x7 and decorated it and added the sheets. When we did a character meal, I took only those sheets. When we hit a park, I added those sheets. The book held up for 2 trips. It just started to come apart last week on our trip. The decoupage started to open up on the seams.

For this last trip, I used the spiral method for my niece and nephew. I put the character meals in one book with a few extra pages and the rest of her choices in another book. It worked pretty well, though I could have used more blank sheets.

Hope that gets you started with some ideas.

I made autograph books for both my girls. My daughter loved, loved, LOVED getting autographs last year so I put alot of pages into them. They each have close to 70 5x7 pages, between Disney characters, Universal characters, and "generic" pages. They are not heavy at all, it honestly wasn't as bulky as I was expecting. They are big, to be sure, but not unweildy. I got them spiral bound at the top at Staples, it worked out well except some of the pages in my youngest's were cut too close to the top and fell out. Luckily, she's too young to care too much about autographs, and the couple that fell out were the "generic" ones. *whew*
