Need information on the Navigator's Balcony

We are considering a quick 3 - day for daughter's 12th birthday, October 10 - 13. Can anyone tell me about the Navigator's Balcony Cabins.

Previously, we have only sailed on Holland America..On HAL we had a mini-suite with veranda..But as we are addicted to WDW, DD really wants to go on DCL.

Any comments would be appreciated.

I think you will love the Navigator's veranda. It is enclosed with a large porthole type opening. There are two built in seats and a small table. It's very cozy, yet airy, too. Does that make sense ?
Plus it is an extra room that I think is great for a family traveling...just someplace else to go while you are in your room.

What a wonderful surprise for your daughter! Hope her birthday is a happy one

I have a question about the Mickey floral arrangement...Are you able to order that on board and have delivered to someone in your room?

I was thinking that it would be a great surprise on my DD's birthday....

Those flowers were waiting in my stateroom for me when I arrived, but I still don't know who sent them. They were labeled as "Sorcerer Mickey" but it didn't look like Sorcerer Mickey to me! I know there is a pot (aka cookie jar) like that one in the Disney Store catalog. The new Gifts Ahoy brochure has flowers you can order and send, but I don't think there are any Mickey flower arrangements. Not sure.

Ditto for Shirley~! Her staff is wonderful also! And they are very willing to accomodate special orders and requests.

For my two cents on the verandahs - first cruise had the navigator's verandah - my son couldn't see through the wood and was too short to see over it, so we had to hold him up while he stood on the chair. The second cruise, we opted for the regular verandah. It is completely pexiglass so we can see right through it and so can he. It made the room look bigger and we could see the waves very clearly (Deck 5).

I too would highly recommend Shirley. She has done an anniversary basket for my hubby and a couple of gifts for crew members, and her work has been great.
As for the navigators verandahs, we have only been in one once, but we really liked it. Very private and cozy...I would definitely recommend them. They are a great way to save a little $$ and still enjoy a verandah. Also, being pretty far aft, they tend to be in quiet areas.

We just returned from a 4-day Wonder and had the Navigator's Veranda. I thought it was nice; however, a major incentive for getting a veranda seems to be that it is one of the few places where you are allowed to smoke (smoking is not permitted in any of the staterooms). I had not realized this and was sandwiched between two "smoking section" verandas, so sitting out there was not quite as enjoyable as I had imagined. Perhaps this is not always the case, but next time I will likely pass on the veranda.
